This might depend on where you are in the world. In the Middle East, in some countries, celebrating Christmas can be seen as preaching for another religion by the general public.

True, but in some western countries, it has become less Christian and more like a country holiday.I am in England and many people (including sikhs and atheists) do choose to celebrate it, not really focusing on the religious aspect.
