Is there still a possibility that macro evolution didn't take place ? or have we reached a point were its certain ? does it apply to humans ?

Starting point, need to research further to formulate your own opinion.

Pay attention to the words- are they definitive or only theories or hypothesis - proven or unproven with Data/Evidence.

Macroevolution encompasses the grandest trends and transformations in evolution, such as the origin of mammals and the radiation of flowering plants. Macroevolutionary patterns are generally what we see when we look at the large-scale history of life.

It is not necessarily easy to "see" macroevolutionary history; there are no firsthand accounts to be read. Instead, we reconstruct the history of life using all available evidence: geology, fossils, and living organisms.

Once we've figured out what evolutionary events have taken place, we try to figure out how they happened. Just as in microevolution, basic evolutionary mechanisms like mutation, migration, genetic drift, and natural selection are at work and can help explain many large-scale patterns in the history of life.

The basic evolutionary mechanisms — mutation, migration, genetic drift, and natural selection — can produce major evolutionary change if given enough time.

Macroevolution equation
Download this, and the graphic at the top of the page, from the Image library.

A process like mutation might seem too small-scale to influence a pattern as amazing as the beetle radiation, or as large as the difference between dogs and pine trees, but it's not. Life on Earth has been accumulating mutations and passing them through the filter of natural selection for 3.8 billion years — more than enough time for evolutionary processes to produce its grand history.

Above are processes, here is the ultimate question

The book "Darwin's Doubt" by Stephen Meyer makes a strong case for Intelligent Design to counter the Theory of Evolution. His basic premise is that DNA can be quated to a language and that the DNA of each species of life contains volumes of highly specific information required for the development of each individual of that species from the information contained in the microscopic fertilized egg. The DNA (comprised of 4 nucleic acids) does not confer any life-sustaining function other than passing information from parent to offspring. What does convey this function is the translation of this language into another language, which is that of proteins (comprised of 20 amino acids). He posits that information for new functions and organs specific to the different species could never have arisen merely by chance mutation and natural selection even if the time factor was infinite. Just as this very book could never have happened by chance assemblage of letters, so also could the various species of life have arisen from a supposed Common Ancestor through purely naturalistic methods without the involvement of a supremely intelligent and powerful designer and creator, who we Muslims know as Allah.

This video introduces this book, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I would skip the introduction to 11:50 even though it was mildly entertaining.

i'm just trying to understand your question - no offence intended.

does it means, you are brought up to believe in macro evolution?

23 hours ago, Beyond said:

or have we reached a point were its certain ?

do you mean, macro evolution is a certainty?

i believe, the theory of evolution (macro inclusive) applies to all with no exception.

here's a quranic verse, it's apparent meaning is beneficial to me in my quest to find the truth.

[Shakir 39:18] Those who listen to the word, then follow the best of it; those are they whom Allah has guided, and those it is who are the men of understanding.

although i'm not one of his fans but the author has a point against evolution from muslim's viewpoint. i think it's a good read.

in the other thread about theory of evolution, i made a reference to quranists.

this is what i mean:

[Shakir 4:1] O people! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord, Who created you from a single being and created its mate of the same (kind) and spread from these two, many men and women; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, by Whom you demand one of another (your rights), and (to) the ties of relationship; surely Allah ever watches over you.

and this is from one dr shabbir ahmed (qxp_dr_shabbirAhmed.pdf)

4:1 [The development of human personality can be easier achieved in a benevolent society (9:111, 16:71, 43:32, 59:9). In that situation, the individual and the society complement each other (14:34)] At the outset, it is imperative to know that all people have a common origin, therefore, you must consider all mankind as one community. 10:19, 57:25]

O Mankind! Be mindful of your Lord Who began your creation from the creation of life at the unicellular level. There was one life cell and He created its mate, dividing the cell into two, male and female (6:99). [Evolution took place, as has been alluded to in this Book 16:8, 20:50, 21:30, 24:45, 30:20, 31:28, 51:49]

Eventually, numerous men and women came into existence on the earth. Be careful of your duty to God in Whose Name you expect rights from one another, and you must strengthen your blood relations. God ever watches over you.

Don't be fooled by the fringe christian ID proponents. Yes, macro evolution, is a certainty, and humans are no exception.

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَا أَسْرَهُمْ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَا أَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا
We created them and made firm their make, and when We please We will bring in their place the likes of them by a change (76:28)

Do you not see that Allah created the heavens and the earth with truth? If He please He will take you off and bring a new creation (14:19)

"Coin Toss"  --mechanism cited, bold-faced for reference

Note: this thread is the closest to this article

Xinhuanet 15June18  Short Report on a  Current Biology article.

Subject of Study:  Ascoidea asiatica  -a species of yeast

This short article makes a good description of what was observed.

l watched this Nova "Dawn of Humanity" episode.

Usual evolutionary themes and questions.

Yet, two things l find incongruent:

1] The focus on brain size and the supposition as the leading cognitive indicator. l forget the names used as examples of smaller, even shrunken brains, of people who have demonstrated exceptional intellectual achievement; but these are challenges remaining. Supplementarily, birds like crows- use tools.

2] When the Great Apes, chimps, bonobos and such are spoken of in their gatherings, they are called "social groups". But when other mammals are spoken of, they are called "herds" and such.
