Asalaam Alaykum dear SC members,

Is changing clothes for (any) ghusl mandatory? I have read somewhere you only must change your underclothes after ghusl.

Thanks in advance.

Salaam Alaykum

As our friends mentioned, wearing Najes clothes is not Haram, but you need to be clean and Pak for prays. It is better to wear clean clothes always.

If your current clothes are clean and Pak, and you want to do Mustahab Ghusl, you don't need to change your clothes. If your clothes were clean and Pak, but you became Mohtalem (jonob) at night, you need to change all of your Najes clothes. Remember you still can wear those clothes after Ghusl, but if you want to do dishes later and the Najes part of clothes become wet, it makes your body Najes(because it touches your body). Anyway, change your Najes clothes if you became Mohtalem. If you doubt that your shirt became Najes or not(while sleeping you don't know, probably it touched WET Najes part of your pants) and your shirt was clean BEFORE becoming Mohtalem, then your shirt is Pak(I always change my pants and underwear and sometimes my whole clothes).

I hope it helps
