Iraq drifting towards Saudi Arabia

It seems a serious hole in the Shia world is in the making.

Iraq is drifting towards its Arab neighbour Saudi Arabia, leaving Iran further isolated.

The article says that Muqtada Sadr has long been a critic of Iran's influence.

And Saudi Arabia is opening a consulate in Najaf.

All this is very ominous of a greater Wahabi influence in the Muslim world and beyond.

I personally think Iraq should move closer to KSA ONLY under the condition that they restore Jannat ul Baqi and agree to joint control of Mecca and Medina by all Muslim nations.

What do you guys think?

Yes

But if you read the article carefully, the PM of Iraq, Haider al Abadi and the Iraq President Fuad Masum have both visited Riyadh.

The fact that a Saudi consulate is being set up in Najaf  must have been agreed upon between the two governments.

So it is not just Muqtada Sadr. 

Clearly the governments of Iraq and Saudi Arabia are cosying up to one another.

That is good news.

May be Saudi Arabia wants to ensure that friendship with both Iraq and Iran is necessary for it to be able to assume leadership of the Middle East, which it so desperately wants.

worry not - these are political games being played at a very high level. Sometimes a warring winning party gives the illusion of strength to the loser party, keeping a vent open, feeding to their grandiosity, but also having them write the terms of defeat in a way it seems a face saving win to their minions. A recent strategic example would be JCPOA between apparently weak IRI and the +5 on the other side, IRI came out winner. On a tactical example, recent recapture of Aleppo from the axis of chaos by the patriotic Syrians and their allies. They shipped in thousands those who thought they won their khilafa huh, to Adlib and wrested control of Aleppo back to the government.

Now the curious case of Benjamin Muqtada: he is a make believe rouge horse of greater axis of resistance's game in that part of ME. He was utilized successfully in Najaf about a decade ago, to teach the occupiers the power of marjaeya'. Similar is the case now. This time it is apparent to the Axis that the house of saud is coming to it's finale', they want to unravel it in a way where it poses least destruction when it comes down to its knees. It may take a decade or so in doing it, but it's most humanely and Islamic way of doing it so the innocent humanity doesn't suffer.

When the time comes to do the same to the tiny rented space of outsiders in ME, you will see the repeat of the same. In modern times, only stupids come, take over with shock and awe, and leave humiliated.

All Muslim nations. Sounds like a good plan. Wahhabis should not be in charge of the holy sites.
