Development Team Gaius I. Caesar Posted August 14, 2017 Development Team Report Share Posted August 14, 2017 I am sorry, I don't understand. What temple? I don't know anything about a temple. Hameedeh

Where did you hear this? That sounds ridiculous. @Gaius I. Caesar The Babri Masjid was built in 1528 in India. Hindus claim that the mosque was built on the site of a Hindu temple. Wikipedia says the masjid was destroyed in 1992.
Development Team Gaius I. Caesar Posted August 14, 2017 Development Team Report Share Posted August 14, 2017 @Hameedeh Oh I remember, I think the Indian government found evidence of the mandir, hence tore the masjid down.
Veteran Member Basim Ali Posted August 14, 2017 Veteran Member Report Share Posted August 14, 2017 I think this is what OP is talking about: http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/babri-dispute-shia-wakf-board-says-ram-temple-can-be-built-at-disputed-site-mosque-at-a-distance/story-Te9ytfzjvm8tBI9GYmTHwK.html I know about the Babri Masjid issue but never knew that the Shias of India claim it as their mosque! This is pretty interesting. In any case, their position seems to be pretty sensible. If they did indeed own the land they have a right to decide what happens to it. And even if they don't, Babri Masjid has become an unnecessary war of egos for Hindus and Muslims of the subcontinent that has claimed countless innocent lives. This issue needs to be put to rest even if it means one side conceding to the other. Hameedeh

Forum Administrators Hameedeh Posted August 15, 2017 Forum Administrators Report Share Posted August 15, 2017 This is a news story about the Babri Masjid from a Shia website. (I like the website because whenever someone posts a link at ShiaChat many years later you see that the link still works!) Apparently the mosque was a Shia mosque built by a Shia, but all Muslims prayed there. When some Sunnis prayed Taraweeh prayers there, people started to mistakenly believe it was a Sunni masjid. Legal issues are still ongoing.
