Couple of days back I was in a discussion of TAQLEED with some people, where there were pro-Taqleed and anti-Taqleed parties.  Over there one of the person was strictly against titles i.e Ayatullah Hujjatullah and Imam being taken by Marajs and Scholars. That person was of a view that these TITLES only belongs to Masooms and nobody has the right to use these TITLE for them.

Can someone please elaborate Why these titles are been taken my non-masooms scholars. Most importantly in what context IMAM is used by Supreme leader of IRAN and Does anyone has the right to  take this title IMAM a part from our IMAMS opted by Allah.

Imam. A very powerful word. An Imam is quite an important term. Meaning leader. Imams have been justified as righteous leaders who are appointed by Allah to guide mankind to true guidance. I would certainly agree that scholars shouldnt obtain "Imam" in regards to their position, their influence. A better contex for "Imam" can be permissible in regards to one leading prayers, etc.

If you talk with nawasibs about "Masoom Imams", they will give you similar argument like only Allah is infallible & attributing infallibility to others is a shirk.

The word "Imam" has different meanings & applications. The man who leads the prayer is also called the Imam of jama'ah. That doesn't make him the Imam e Ma'soom.

Similarly, you & I are also among the countless Ayaat (signs) of Allah.

Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 20:

وَفِي الْأَرْضِ آيَاتٌ لِّلْمُوقِنِينَ

And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure,

(English - Shakir)

Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 21:

وَفِي أَنفُسِكُمْ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

And in your own souls (too); will you not then see?

(English - Shakir)

Yes I know the meaning. I do understand the concept, we also use MAULA for Hazrat Ali (A.S) and for Hazrat Abbas (A.S) but still this word IMAM used by non-mosoom, at times make me think. Why didn't they choose other title a part from IMAM.

We are not discussing the word Moula. We are discussing the word Imam. And know that this word is not specific for Masoomeen as the word "Aimmatul kufr" is also present there in Quran.

Apart from that tell me who else we call Imam in our daily life?

What do you call the person who leads you in prayer? Imam e Jama'at or not? What you call a person who leads a mosque "Imam e Masjid" or not?

Or you call him "Moulana" which is used for Allah in this verse:

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 286:

 أَنتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Apart from that, dont you know that he is famous as "Leader" or "Rehbar" in Iran?
