Fasting in Weekends

Hello ShiaChat.

I have a question regard fasting in weekends only.

I live in Denmark - the fasting hours are long here and i work 37/h per week, and i may not be as strong as my parents are - but last year i fasted, but i slept through the entire day, and i felt that my fast wasnt accepted.

So my question is - is it not better to fast in weekends and do a complete fast with praying etc, waking up in proper time and enjoying the fasting day.

It's understandable that fasting hours of someone place is too long. Hadith states that sleep of a fasting person is worship. So it's absolutely okay if you sleep through an entire day.

It is mandatory to fast all 29/30 days of the month of Ramadhan so the kind of flexibility you are seeking is not valid.
