found this metaphor on the internet.

Imagine you're on an Arctic expedition, walking towards the North Pole, At some point you find you simply can't go any further North.

There's nothing physically stopping you, but the entire concept of "North" no longer applies at this point (the pole).

"Before" the Big Bang is the same way.

Events before the Big Bang have no observational consequences, they are simply not defined, because there's no way one could measure what happened at them.
