War for Visual Data, condensing data mining operations. The effort is being put into marketing rather than techno-economic developments. https://techcrunch.com/2017/05/17/the-war-over-artificial-intelligence-will-be-won-with-visual-data/

Some techniques of A.l. from MlT:  https://www.technologyreview.com/s/607894/why-googles-ceo-is-excited-about-automating-artificial-intelligence/

This article, though Al based, expresses the same futuristic failings that futurology always had: never been accurate. https://www.citylab.com/life/2017/05/when-artificial-intelligence-rules-the-city/509999/

A stark example of why the present is not a guide-to-the-future:  in 1960, being in the meat cutters union meant a very well paying job. By the 90s, meat cutting was a non-union, poorly paid, job.

Having the TV going in the background, l overheard an opinion about computers, artificial intelligence and conscientiousness:

When we consider our phones and desk tops as needing "thinking time" and "dream time" then they will be 'conscious' because we say they are.

I'm not.

Robotics are pick-and-place operations and numerical control (CNC).

Al is processing and extrapolating keyword-searches-and-measuring-behaviors into new lines of code.

Lousy sound quality.

The Quran reveals itself to be easy to understand. So why do we need this?

Because they know it as a religious book  that remains intact & it is just one version but they want use Tafsirs of it but as usual they use Sunni references not shia refernces for  Tafsirs.

Technology is morally neutral, it is its intended use and how it is actually used that can be scary.

Also ANI (simple, single task AIs as a rough definition) are everywhere already; phones, computers, most newer cars, spotify, all popular social media, the list goes on). The difference between that and AGI is the ability to understand abstract concepts.

Salam currently the AI everyday becomes more humanoid  ,also Arabic countries have great investment on this that with financial support they achieve to Sophia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophia_(robot)

but we don't do anything ,greatest fear from AI is that it has no mural and best moral comes from shia Islam & maybe Wahabist this time use robots to behead people  :)I know it is a joke but advanced countries like as USA are very active in robot military with AI & enemies of Shias are their best consumers.

Circa 1972: An engineer at AT&T said that without computers -the ones available then- to keep the same level of service the telephone company would have to employ every woman in the country.

That won't stop, perhaps we should be more involved in these technologies ourselves.

You raise an intriguing question:  Why is there a "need" or preference for robots to have human characteristics?

ln the "topdoc--film" Humans, Gods and Technology (2017) at ~35minutes there is this discussion on whether people will begin to "treat robots as slaves". Which raises a relationship question of human-to-robot: lf you say to your robotic 'slave' "l am better than you" and the robot replies "l am a machine. l have no 'me'," then what is your reaction?

:D

One of the people in the film is Kevin Kelly, a co-founder of Wired magazine, who in a previously recorded lecture had in his visual the current useage info:

1 quintillion transistors (10exp18)

55 trillion links

20 petahertz refresh rates (10exp15)

275 exabytes of memory (2exp60)

100 billion clicks per day.

Salam there is many theories about this optimistic view says it will make easier human life in other hand conspiracy fans say they will replace with human to human interaction.

Autonomous Driving --and their Problems

I wonder, per automobile driver, which has more accidents, human or computer? I'm guessing computer for now, but not forever.

Self driving cars are already superior statistically
