:salam:

What you have learned in today's friday sermon?
Would you like to share?

I myself attended the friday prayer at a Brelvi Mosque. Where khatib  was telling the benefits of speaking the truth even at times of  difficulties. And was telling some merits/powers of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani rehmatullah alaihe. To which I totally disagree with him.

And in first Rakah he recited Surah Jumah verses 9-11 and in second  Surah Kauthar.

“The best of days on which the sun has risen is Friday.  One this day  Adam was created, and on this day he was descended to earth.” (Saheeh  Bukhari)

:salam:

I showed up at the end of the second khutbah so I missed much of the speech, but the sheikh mentioned a story of a `alim in Tehran (sheikh al Kafi) who on `ashura saw a man crying like he has lost his own son. Sheikh sat and cried with him and then after the ceremony he talked to him and discovered that his 20 year old son had left Islam, which made him cry.

The man complained that he had prayed, fasted, given alms for years, when suddenly the sheikh excused himself and left.

The man went and ask the sheikh what he had said that was so annoying, to which he was told that never in 20 years he came to a sheikh asking for advice. Rather he boasted when his son was born, went to such school and never questioned his entourage. Only in such a hard time did he question and blame himself for his actions.

I could relate this to surat al `asr.
