Baby Girl Names

Salamun Alaykum brothers and sisters,

My wife is expecting our second child, and I have put in many hours thinking of names. The ultrasound shows it may be a girl "most likely". My wife is totally unsure of what to name her, infact she has also thought of many names however she just seems like she is overwhelmed at the moment with the pregnancy so I try and help make suggestions and usually we build from whatever she likes. We named our first child (daughter) Kawthar.

So far we have shortened the long list down to a few choices given that my wife is in her 8th month. For arguments sake we have settled on girls names for the time being and if it is a boy we have a few suitable names we like. If our child is a girl we like:

1. BILQIS (The Queen of Sheba) mentioned in the Qur'an in Surah An-Naml 

2. YAQEEN meaning certainty, lack of doubt, belief, faith. This choice seems more like a boys name but I wanted to hear input I guess of what everyone thinks. I personally think Yaqeen can be a unisex name like safa or noor. *Let me know what you think about this*

3. IZDIHAR meaning blossoming, derives from Zahra.

4. TASNIM meaning fountain or spring in paradise I  Surah Al-Mutaffifin

Please let me know what you all think. Also, we are open to suggestions.

I think Yaqeen is more male than female, you could try to put a feminine twist on it; Yaqeena.

Zakiya/Zakiyyah

Amal

Najma

Samana

I like all of your choices and think all would make beautiful names! I like that they are a bit less common. For a long time I wanted to name my future daughter bilqees but I don't think that's gunna happen. 

Hmm I think my favorite from your list is #3 because I never heard of it before and sounds nice.

If your child will go to a school in the West, she might be called queen or queenie.

I'm going out on a limb and assuming your parents gave you a name people have difficulty pronouncing. 

I will not name my daughter Samantha or Jennifer just to comply to Canadian social norms, so I somewhat agree with you. (Shia) Islamic Tradition will certainly be the determining factor here.

Yes, lol sad but truly a possibility. Similarly a friend of mine named his daughter "hoor" like "hoor al ain". Mind you this is when he was residing in the Middle East. You could only imagine some of the disgusting and upsetting remarks she gets for her name.

My little sister is going to have a girl. Yesterday, she asked me to get a list of "L" names.

Her, Hubby and l all liked "Lujayn" (silver).

Which ever name you chose, be sure you like it and the little girl will like it.
