Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu...

I am having this doubt which always keeps me wondering if, what I am doing is haram!

There's an anonymous app where we get to share our secrets and our thoughts without being known! We get to make new friends as well who are all strangers. We can remain anonymous if we want.

So...Sometimes I chat with guys as well, not a sexual chat but a FRIENDLY one. I don't share my pic not even by personal information. It's an informal chat with a stranger! Can anyone please tell me if this is haram or not?

It would be great if anyone could help me!

Jazakallahu khairan

Was salam!

Can you please share the reference? :)

I need to help my friend as well and for that I need some reference as proof. When I went through ayatollah sistani (ra)'s site I didn't get the clear answer. All I saw there was one shouldn't talk to opposite gender if he is not sure that he can control his nafs from indulging into haram stuffs.

Btw...jazakallahu khair for the answer!

Jazakallahu khair... I'll keep this in mind and will try my best to evade talking to opposite gender :)

Being friends with the opposite gender is haram if there is fear of falling into sin. You can be friendly and personable if you treat gender on internet as a non-issue. Just be careful that you don't accidentally lead anyone on.

But as mentioned already, nothing online is ever really private.
