A better translation than the word(s) "the faithless" would be "the infidels" or "the disbelievers" - because this is the literal translation of "al-kafireen (الكافرين).

Salamun Alaikum

I made use of Ali Quli Qarai Translation which to many scholars is one of the best and most precise English translations available in the market.

Okay brother. I just want to make the point, that in Fiqh, the kafir is the disbeliever not the faithless. To be faithless is just one form of kufr, there are many other forms, like believing in a false religion (e.g the pagans were called kuffar, yet they had a faith).

Since the Holy Qur'an shows verses that Allah "loves" (likes) something or "does not love" (dislikes) something, why should we be using the word hate? Allah does not want people to be hateful.
