Naming children the name of animals or evil creatures is really dreadful. You should call your kids with a name that when you call him or her you feel pleasure and respect. The holy Prophet of Islam, peace be upon him said: 'Name your children after the prophets.' Imam al-Kazim, Shiites’ seventh Imam (pbuh), said, 'The very first act of kindness of a man towards his son is to give him a good name, so keep good names for your children.'[ii] I think the most favorite name can be Muhammad, because it means someone who is praised.

In my opinion giving names related to the Holy Prophet and his Family(as) are best when naming a child. The are not only spiritual benefits which apply to this, but in a practical sense as well. For example, my name is Ali. As I grew up I thought about who I'm named after, and learned about Imam Ali. Today, I model everything I do with Imam Ali in my thoughts, especially my manner and deeds. Therefore, when you give your child a name corresponding to AhlulBayt, your child will naturally be proud of who they are.
