During a recent episode of his controversial Al Jazeera Arabic show ‘The Opposite Side’, host Faisal al-Qassem had another outburst, this time urging his guest -  a militant leader in Syria –to exterminate the supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, especially singling out the Alawite and Shia minorities.

The militant leader, Abed al-Men’em Zain al-Deen, the so-called ‘General Coordinator between the Factions of the Syrian Revolution’, looked visibly taken aback as Qassem pressed him repeatedly on why the militant groups did not take the fight in Syria to regions which support President Assad.

At one point Qassem fumed: “What don’t you go displace them and curse the ones who gave birth to them (exterminate them all)?”.

Salam,

This just shows how horrible this syrian conflict is. Before the war Faisal El Qassem was pro bashar and he constantly defended Hezbollah and the syrian regime but this war has been so bad and has inflamed so many rational people to take radical and insane positions that he is now advocating for the extermination of shia in aleppo and targeting tartous and latakia to destroy shia. Its a very sad situation.

Then again this is why the Syrian war has been a success for the Americans and Israelis even though they have failed in their main strategic objective of toppling Bashar.

Same with Imposed war against Iran. Sure, they did not succeed in creating counterrevolution but they did create ill will and bad blood along national and sectarian lines. It's a sort of fallback plan in case the war technically fails.
