So on a second thought, I guess life aint that bad actually.. if you can just behave yourself, and do not overspend...

And even if you do misbehave and overspend, as long as you still live there is still opportunity for repentance and paying off debts.

^ It's almost September.

Wait until January?

lol.

Actually I don't care...go ahead and have your new-fangled " Protestant" thread.

:D

Since I have a few minutes and am perusing some info from SG upon which I apparently must make a decision soon.....I'll even contribute a thought:

Abayas with bling......well....okay.

lol I didn't commit a murder neither did I make my dad go bankrupt ... I didn't buy $1000 virtual gaming stuff off his credit card. But I wish I could buy a Lamborghini by selling off all of my family property combined though :itsok:

Salam IbnSina,

I love America, the country where God created me in my mother's womb, the land where my sisters and cousins and many of my friends also call home, so I have no desire to wish death for our country. May God greatly bless America!!! :)

I love Israel (though I've never been there), because God chose the Children of Israel regardless of if other people agree or not. May God greatly bless Israel!!! :)

I love Palestine (though I've never been there) because God loves both Palestinians and Israelis, and wants neighbors, including neighboring countries like Israel and Samaria) to love each other.  May God greatly bless Palestine!!! :)

And may God greatly bless the USA's neighbors México and Canada!!! :) I have been to both countries several times and have made awesome friends from both countries. A brother-in-law is Canadian too.

I love Iran (though I've never been there) because God loves people of all nations. Jesus Christ said to love even our enemies (people who wish death to one's country can be considered an enemy). May God greatly bless Iran!!! :)

Ibn Sina, I love you as a brother in humanity even if you hate me. Why? Because God loves both you and me, and God created people for His glory, not to kill each other or wish death to each other or to each other's countries.

May God greatly bless you Ibn Sina with life filled with His amazing grace, love, joy and peace!!! :)

We need more people like you on these boards to spread around some love and civility. There's far too much hostility, seething hatred, cliques, and tribalism on a supposed shia islamic forum.

I have no problem with American citizens aslong as they don't support the government. But yes, death to American government and Israel.

Salam Uponthesunnah,

Thanks! There are many Muslim people on Shiachat (including you) who are loving and kind and good, even to people with whom they disagree. :)

Thanks so much for spreading love and for being a wonderful representative of Shia Islam!!! :)

Peace and God bless you

Salam Ali al-Abdullah,

I don't agree with or support every decision the US government does, but I don't wish death upon them. I do wish they repent of sins and no longer invade other peoples and no longer engage in any corruption.

Both the American government and Israel are composed of people, and I don't wish death on any person or country, because God created people to live, and He wants people to repent of their sins.

To see a day where a muslim gets condemned for condemning oppressors by a fellow muslim.

You know when the muslim society goes to hell? When the men of reason tries to do that which makes most people happy instead of doing that which is right regardless what emotional response it may have.

May Allah(SWT) hasten the return of our Imam(ajf).

@Christianlady

You do not understand what I am saying because you do not want to understand it. It is like I am writing something in one language and you are reading it in another.

Your country was founded on violence, rape and murder. The killings of natives, the stealing of their lands. It was built by the slavery of Africans, grown by unjust wars, the supporting of crazy dictators in self interest, the invading of countries to steal resources, the selling of weapons to everyone, the financial support of terrorist organizations, the destruction of democratic nations in self interest, the money worshiping capitalism, the first and only users of the atomic bomb, should I go on? Today, america is truly a modern third world country.

But no, you will still raise their flags and sing their anthems. You should think as a human thats part of planet earth before thinking like a human thats part of a nation.

I wish your government to be put before trial against crimes done to humanity, I wish your government to be disbanded and I wish for the american people to have a government that is truly thinking in their best interest, not a police state that gives you fake freedom while surveilling your every word and action (NSA), not a government where under its rule moral corruption has been wide spread. I want something for american people that is far better than you realize and is far more humane.

Though the people of america seems to want something ells as you can see by the support of trump, not that hilary is any better, one of them is a loud idiot and the other a silent snake.

Either way, go ahead and misunderstand me.

Salam IbnSina,

"Death to America" is a statement that is just as clear as "Death to Iran" or "Death to [insert country here]" Out of curiosity, what is your native country? Would you appreciate it if someone said death to your native country?

The USA has many sins, including all those you mentioned above, and God will punish each person in the USA and in every other country who has done and who will do any of the above sins.

I disagree. The definition of a third world country is the following:

noun, (sometimes lowercase)

1.the underdeveloped nations of the world, especially those with widespread poverty.
2.the group of developing nations, especially of Asia and Africa, that do not align themselves with the policies of either the U.S. or the former Soviet Union.

http://www.dictionary.com/browse/third-world

Out of curiosity, is English your first language?

If you want this, why say "Death to America"? Why not say "Better Government for America'? Words matter.

If you want to be understood, it's important to use words that mean what you want to convey. If someone ever said "Death" to your country, would you believe that person wanted a better government for your country, or death for your country?

Peace and God bless you

What do you mean? Didnt america save you guys from the evil guys they trained back in the days against the war against the soviet union? Didnt they kill that one guy bin laden who was the mastermind? Whos proof of killing there is none and whos corpse was given a quick "islamic burial" because suddenly the US military respected his islamic traditions?

Isnt everything perfect in afghanistan now? Dont you guys have freedom and democracy now? Isnt it much better now that america is easing of your burdens of having too much opium in the country by helping you guys get rid of it for free?

What do you mean? Your not happy? Well you should turn the other cheek so they can slap that one as well, that will teach those guys not to do this again...

I hope you realize the amount of sarcasm in this post.

Its funny how a "big strong" country like america went into a "poor weak country" like afghanistan and they didnt accomplish anything, left it in a worse state than before and ran out of the country (excluding the opium fields).

Salam Ali al-Abdullah,

I did not know you are from Afghanistan. I understand why you don't want to forgive America. Definitely the US government did evil by invading Afghanistan. :(

Personally, I have always disagreed with my government's decision to invade other nations, including Afghanistan and Iraq. :( I wish the US could go back in the past and not have invaded either country, nor have done anything against Iran either. However, only God controls time.

I do think that if you want to do so, you can forgive America with God's help, but that's your decision. Jesus Christ said to forgive, but sadly not even every Christian obeys Jesus Christ.

There are many Americans who disagree with the decision to invade Afghanistan; I'm not the only one. May God heal and bless Afghanistan with His amazing love, strength and power. May God help the people of Afghanistan to recover from the wounds inflicted by the USA and any other nation and help the people of Afghanistan make their country a wonderful and good country for His glory

I know that you meant well in your post  but people rarely forgive invaders no matter who it is. If you truly understand Ali's reasons, I think you would  spare the Christian lecture.

@ChristianladyWhenever anyone says " Death to America" in here, well...that is pretty harsh language and  surely problematic , but I don't read it as them wanting death to me or you. They want death to the imperialism, greed, supremacy, etc. that this nation-state has foisted upon other peoples. At least that's the way I read it.

PS...I myself would like that version of " America" to die.

I'd appreciate it if you can spare a dua for the health of my friend's fiancée. They are not Muslim but they are good people. They are young but nonetheless he was having symptoms of heart attack. It's particularly terrifying for my friend because she lost her husband to cancer a few years ago.

He's in the hospital now. I've never met the man, but he is important to my friend.

Salam LeftCoastMom,

True.

but I don't read it as them wanting death to me or you.

Would you read it as wanting death to you if someone said "Death" to your tribe?

Quote

Why not say, "Death to Imperialism" or "Death to greed" or "Death to supremacy"?(All these by the way are traits of many countries, not just the USA.)

Surely it's not hard to say death to evil traits instead of saying death to countries? I mean, China has human rights issues, so should we say "death" to China? No way! I personally don't want death to China or any nation; I do want for people in China to have human rights.

Saying death to a country or group of people is hateful speech, and most people understand that.

Quote

PS...I myself would like that version of " America" to die.

Do you go around saying "Death to America"? If so, how do fellow Americans respond to that?

Words matter, which is what I repeatedly tell Trump supporters. If words lose their meaning, communication becomes very difficult.

Peace and God bless you

(LCM puts out soapbox) lol

^ When I discuss the USA I use almost the exact same words that @IbnSina does. It is a country founded on genocide and slavery. Whoever does not want to hear that simply does not want to look at the truth and is no better than a Holocaust denier in my eyes.

"My fellow Americans "who are not native and who have any brains or hearts at all know what my family suffered and what their family gained from it.

America is not " my tribe". America is an empire that sits on top of my tribe at present. . I don't equate the two. If my tribe were capable of invading and laying waste to another country at will then  I guess I would have to hear the hate coming from them and accept that they had a legitimate grievance against us. As it is....it's only been a few generations since we were " terrorists".

If perchance China invaded the US , destroyed its government, and killed millions of citizens...including children and babies, you'd hear plenty of "hate speech". Look what happened after Pearl Harbor with the Japanese.

Some of these  folks have been invaded, bombed, had their homes destroyed, and had their kids murdered by the US empire. I can't expect them or their relatives to use soft words with us. If it hurts to hear it, our government has hurt them far more than they will likely ever hurt us.

" Hate speech" , as you phrase it, pales in comparison to what we have done to them. They even have every reason to hate Americans as individuals , but most of them don't.  I can parse that even through the slogans. The fact that they don't hate all of us speaks volumes about their own capacity to separate  the actions of governments from people and to have enough heart not to hate me as a citizen of the nation that ravaged them.

So I will  personally take their  angered speech ( I'm not going to indulge myself in any " fragile Americanism") and say " I'm sorry. I tried to stop it. I hope you believe that.  I failed you. I hope you can forgive me. I will do what I can as long as I draw breath to get justice for you and to turn this country to better ways."

It's a p*ss-poor apology ,but it's what I have.

If I want  " America" to live...it's  the parts of America that marches down the streets against dirty wars in spite of the police blockades, fights to protect rivers and the rest of the good green earth, and pushes the government to feed, educate, and provide for its citizens instead of bombing everyone else's. I can only hope the citizens of other countries are doing the same.

(okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.)
