assalamu alaikum

The Holy Prophet said: "The one who takes prayer light is not of me. No, by Allah such a person will not reach the Haud, Pond of abundant."

Man La Yahduruhul Faqih, vol. 1, p. 206

Imam Sadiq [a] said: "If there be a stream at the house of one of you in which the one washes himself five times a day, will there remain anything from the dirt over his body? Verily, the likeness of prayers is the same as the stream. The person who establishes ritual prayers clears out his sins thereby, except for the sin that takes him out from Faith he believes in."

Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 82, p. 236

The Holy Prophet said: An obligatory prayer, with Allah, is equivalent to one thousand Hajj pilgrimages and one thousand Umrah performances (voluntary pilgrimages to Ka'ba) which are right and accepted."

Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 99, p. 14

The Holy Prophet said: "Do not waste your prayers, because, surely, the person who wastes them will be raised with Croesus (Qarun) and Haman so that it is rightfully certain for Allah to put the one in Hell with hypocrites."

Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 83, p. 14

The Holy Prophet said: "Say each of your prayer as if it were your last prayer."Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 69, p. 408

Imam Amir ul Mu'mineen Ali [a] said: "If a praying person knew to what extent he was surrounded by His Mercy, he would never raise his head from (the state of) prostration.

Tasnif-I-Ghurar-ul-Hikam, p. 175

Imam Baqir [a] said: "On the Reckoning Day, the first thing that a servant will be reckoned for is the prayer; therefore, if it is accepted, the rest (good actions) will be accepted, too, (otherwise, his other good deeds will not avail him)."

Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 7, p. 267

At the last moments of his life, Imam Sadiq [a] called his relations and companions and told them: "Verily, our intercession never reaches the one who takes prayers lightly."

Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 82, p. 236

Imam Baqir, the fifth Imam, [a] said: "There are ten things that when a person meets Allah the Almighty and Glorious, with them, he will enter Heaven:

Confessing that there is no god besides Allah

And that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah

Acknowledging what has come down to the Prophet from Allah (the Qur'an).

Establishing regular prayers.

Giving alms.

Fasting in Ramadan.

Performing the Pilgrimage (Hajj) to the Sacred House.

Kindness to the lovers of Allah

Detachment from the enemies of Allah

And, avoiding any alcoholic beverage."Khisal by Saduq, p.432

Imam Amir ul Mu'mineen Ali [a] said: "For the God-fearing, prayer is a means of seeking nearness to Allah and for the weak, the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is as good as Jihad (fighting in the way of Allah). For every thing there is a levy, and the levy of the body is fasting. The Jihad of a woman is to afford pleasant company to her husband."

Nahjul Balagha, saying 136

The Holy Prophet said: There comes no night but that the angel of death calls to the dead in the graves and inquires what they regret for today when they have vividly seen (and known) this (the next life). Then the dead will say: "Verily, we regret and envy the believers who are in their mosques and they are praying while we are not; they give alms and we do not; they fast during Ramadan but we do not; they donate in charity what they have more than the need of their family members while we do not; ..."

Irshad-ul-Qulub, p.53

The Holy Prophet said: "At the (appointed) time of every prayer (salat), I hear a caller who calls and says: "O children of Adam! Keep up prayers in order to extinguish the fire you have lit against yourselves (by committing sins)."

Mustadrak-ul-Wasa'il, vol. 3, p. 102

The Holy Prophet said: "Be careful of the prayers, for, on the Day of Resurrection, when Allah the Exalted, will bring the servant (for reckoning), the first thing that He will ask him about will be the prayer. If one brings it completely, he will be of the people of salvation, otherwise, he will be thrown into Fire."

Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 82, p. 202

Abubasir said that he visited Umm Hamidah (Musa-ibn Ja'far's [a] mother) in order to console her for the death of Ja'far-ibn-Muhammad [a]. Then she wept and he wept because of her weeping. After that, she said: "O' Aba Muhammad! If you had seen Ja'far-ibn-Muhammad when he was on his death-bed, you would have observed a wonderful thing: he opened his eyes and said to gather all of his relatives." Then, she continued saying that they gathered them all with no exception. Then he [a] looked at them and said: "Verily, our intercession does not reach the one who takes prayers lightly".

Wasa'il-ush-Shi'ah vol. 4, p. 26

The Holy Prophet said: "The worship done by the one who earns his living on unlawful money is similar to a building constructed upon sand."

Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 84, p. 258

With my continuous chain of transmission reaching up to the Thiqat al- Islam Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Kulayni, may God's good pleasure be with him, from a group of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, from his father, from Harun ibn al-Jahm, from al-Mufaddal, from Sa'd, from Abu Ja'far, may peace be upon him, that he said: "Verily, the hearts are [of] four (kinds) the heart that has [both] faith and hypocrisy in it, the heart that is inverted and upside down, the heart that has been sealed and is darkened, the heart that is clear and luminous (al-azhar)." [sa'd], the narrator, says: "I asked him, "What is meant by `al-azhar'?" He replied, "it is a heart that has the likeness of a lamp. As to the heart that has been sealed, it is the heart of a hypocrite. The heart that is luminous is that of the believer, who is thankful when God gives him and is patient when subjected to tribulation. As to the heart that is inverted, it is the heart of the polytheist." Then he recited this verse: What, is he who walks prone upon his /ace better guided or he who walks upright on a straight path? (67:22) [Then he added]; "As to the heart wherein is faith and hypocrisy-they were a people who lived in Ta'if; so if one of them should die in the state of hypocrisy, he would perish, and should he die in the state of faith he would attain salvation." Thiqat al-'Islam wa 'Imad at-Muslimin Muhammad ibn Ya'qub (al-Kulayni): From a number of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from 'Ali ibn Hadid, from Mansur ibn Yunus, from al-Harith ibn al-Mughirah or his father, from Abu 'Abd Allah (A) (al-'Imam al-Sadiq). Al-Harith, or his father, says: "I asked him (A), 'What was (mentioned) in the testament of Luqman?' 'There were marvellous things in it', he said, 'and the most wonderful of that which he said to his son was this: "Have such a fear of God Almighty that were you to come to Him with the virtues of the two worlds (thaqalan) He would still chastise you, and put such a hope in God that were you to come to Him with the sins of the two worlds He would still have compassion for you." Then Abu 'Abd Allah (A) added: 'My father used to say, "There is no believer who does not have two lights in his heart: the light of fear and the light of hope. Were one of these to be measured it would not exceed the other, and were the other one to be measured, it would not exceed this one."" [1]

It is narrated that the Prophet (saw) has said:

My followers shall live in welfare as long as they do not abandon

the duty of bidding to good conduct and forbidding misconduct and

cooperate with one another in good works. But when they abandon this

programme in life, the blessings will be withdrawn from them and

some of them (i.e. the tyrants) shall be imposed on the rest. As a

result they will suffer, but they will neither find any refuge on

the earth, nor any helper will come to their aid from anywhere.

those turned into curse and evil for them. And he involved and

entangled (as a test) a nation into afflictions and calamities and

they exercised patience so those (calamities) turned for them into

beneficences.

It is narrated that Imam Ali (as) has said:

Learn wisdom even from the infidels.

(salam)

Ahhh, I love this statement. It has such deep meaning.

My take on this one line:

1) Wisdom is universal, not restricted to Muslims.

2) The fact that Imam Ali said to learn from a Kafir shows respect.

3) Fact that you can learn from a Kafir shows modesty.

4) To understand others point of view (devil's advocate) upgrades your intellect.

5) To interact and understand kafirs shows unity, peace, and harmony.

6) Finally, best way to fight your enemy is to know your enemy.

Well, maybe I'm disecting that one line too much, but thats me :D

assalamu alaikum

almighty Allah says:

i wonder how a person can be happy, who is certain of death.

i wonder at a person who is certain of reckconing (the day of judgement), but still accumulates wealth.

i wonder at a person who is certain of going into the grave, but still smiles without concern.

i wonder at a person who is certain of this world’s doom, but still has tranquility in loving this world.

i wonder at a person who is certain of the hereafter and its bounties but he still rests.

i wonder at a person who is knowledgeable in his speech, and ignorant in his heart.

i wonder at a person who cleans him/herself with water, but does not cleanse his heart.

i wonder at people who look for bad points in others, but is unaware of the same in themselves.

i wonder at a person who knows that almighty Allah is aware of his actions, but still commits sins.

i wonder at a person who preaches to the people, but does not preach to his own soul.

i wonder at a person who knows that he/she will die alone, go into the grave alone, give accounts alone, but is still totally engrossed with people who will not be able to help him/her.

Allah says: there is no god but me. thus mohammed (saw) is my servant and my messenger.

(salam)

Another beautiful tradition. So many Muslims can relate to this statement, especially in Palestine.

My take on this tradition:

1) We all will be tested, Quran confirms it (this hadith is warning us).

2) One must be strong emotionally/mentally to prepare for this struggle.

3) The reward for passing this test is being our caliph's brother/companion, which equals heaven.

4) Preparing also means physically be prepared, jihad with enemy.

5) Also, be prepared to sacrifice a loved one, this is probably the hardest challenge.

6) This also means that injustice will occur also, but must be strong to overcome it.

Ok, sorry about this. I know this thread is just for postiing hadith, I won't reply anymore :)

(All of you are doing a great job posting, this is one of my favorite threads. The other threads are fighting and arguing, this thread gives me a peace of mind. May Allah reward you for your service :D )

chapter 24

almighty Allah says: Allah bears witness that indeed, there is no god but he. the angels and those who posses knowledge are maintaining (his creation) with justice. there is no god but he, the mighty, the wise. indeed, the true religion with Allah is islam (3:19). give good news of jannat (heaven) to the benevolent people. and warn all sinful and ruined people that they are the losers. the one, who knows Allah and obeys his orders, has attained salvation. the one, who knows satan and disobeys him, he is safe. the one, who knows the truth and follows it, is safe. the one, who knows falsehood and keeps away from it, has succeeded. the one, who knows this world and discards it, has purified himself. the one, who knows akhirat (hereafter) and seeks it, has achieved it. indeed, Allah guides whoever he wishes and towards him is your return. oh, son of adam! if almighty Allah has taken the responsibility of providing your sustenance then why are you struggling for it (in an unlawful manner)? and if it is true that all creatures are mine, why are you cruel towards them? and if you know that iblis (satan) is an enemy of mine, then why are you careless? if the account on the day of judgement and passing the sirat (bridge to paradise) is true, then why do you collect wealth? and if recieving the rewards of almighty Allah in heaven is true, then why are you relaxing? and if all fortunes and misfortunes are from me, then why are you impatient? so you should not be disappointed when you lose something and you should not be so happy when you gain something from this world.
