Do not be complaisant in your speech, lest he in whose heart is a sickness should aspire; speak honourable words.(Al-Ahzab.32)

Just to clarify- this is specific to the wives of the Prophet, is it not?

"O Wives of the Prophet! You are not like any of the (other) women: if you do fear (Allah), be not too complacent of speech (with men), lest one in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire: but speak a speech (that is) just." [33:32]

Salamun alaykum.

It is true that the addresses are the wives of the Prophet but it applies for all women though in the case of the wives of the Prophet it is of more importance.

The next Verse proves this generality:

Stay in your houses and do not display your finery with the display of the former] days of [ignorance. Maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostle. Indeed Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification.

So as " Maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostle " is not limited to the wives the same is true for other instructions.
