Important question about Prophet Muhammad!

Rate this topic

I have heard that the Prophet Muhammad had a night journey to Jerusalem. Where he met Jesus, Abraham, Moses, and John the Baptist and led them in prayer. How did the prophet Muhammad know that he was in Jerusalem? And, also how did he know who these other prophets were? Did he ask them their names, or did they address themselves?

I have an important question about the prophet Muhammad I hope to have answered. I asked this question yesterday in a different forum on this site, but it has been over 15 hours and I have yet to have it answered. Please help me understand.

He was a trader so it is quite possible that he had been there before.

Ok, I guess that's good enough. I was just hoping for details. But, I guess that is not necessary. I guess that their is not much to it.

what details do you need?

edit: by the way it was a 2 stage journey.

(1) to masjid al aqsa where he offered prayers
(2) from masjid al aqsa to heaven where he met the prophets (pbut) and certain angels
(3) back from heaven to masjid al aqsa
(4) from masjid al aqsa to home

he found out who the prophets were by talking to them, when they introduced themselves. he alse met prophet Adam (pbuh)

Hi Roman Catholic,

When you ask these questions it would be good to ask, 'where it is written in the Quran,' because all things are to be confirmed in the Quran.

It is recorded in history that Muhammad said to his companions, "Don't quote me as saying anything that isn't in the Quran."

Is this saying of the prophet in the Quran or in the Hadith? Why do Muslims even keep sayings of the prophet if he advised against being quoted.

Hi,

This first verse is where the Journey is mentioned, and to show that there were no details, I added the following verses so you can see that it goes from this event, to Moses, and even to Noah.

1. Glory to ((Allah)) Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless,- in order that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He (God) is the One Who heareth and seeth (all things).

2. We gave Moses the Book, and made it a Guide to the Children of Israel, (commanding): "Take not other than Me as Disposer of (your) affairs."

3. O ye that are sprung from those whom We carried (in the Ark) with Noah! Verily he was a devotee most grateful.

4. And We gave (Clear) Warning to the Children of Israel in the Book, that twice would they do mischief on the earth and be elated with mighty arrogance (and twice would they be punished)!

5. When the first of the warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants given to terrible warfare: They entered the very inmost parts of your homes; and it was a warning (completely) fulfilled.

6. Then did We grant you the Return as against them: We gave you increase in resources and sons, and made you the more numerous in man-power.

7. If ye did well, ye did well for yourselves; if ye did evil, (ye did it) against yourselves. So when the second of the warnings came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to disfigure your faces, and to enter your Temple as they had entered it before, and to visit with destruction all that fell into their power.

8. It may be that your Lord may (yet) show Mercy unto you; but if ye revert (to your sins), We shall revert (to Our punishments): And we have made Hell a prison for those who reject (all Faith).

9. Verily this Qur'an doth guide to that which is most right (or stable), and giveth the Glad Tidings to the Believers who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a magnificent reward;

10. And to those who believe not in the Hereafter, (it announceth) that We have prepared for them a Penalty Grievous (indeed).

If you have a Quran to read that is good, if not you can read it online. --- I just type in 'Quran translation by Yusuf Ali.'

What he meant was dont quote anything he said that goes against the Quran.

In other words to make false news and claim that Mohammad said so and so, though it is clearly against the Quran.

For starters, I would like to know the words of their interactions. Did they greet each other with a hello "Salam" or " shalom"? What language did they speak in, and who said what too who?

we have plenty of hadith but if you arent going to find any accounts of jewish greetings/ terminology between the holy prophet (pbuh) and them. "asalamu alaikum" (peace be with you) is a far superior greeting than "shalom". it is unlinkely that the prophet would choose the lesser of two goods when addressing other prophets

I find this statement very arrogant. Your saying the Arabic word for peace is greater than the Jewish word for peace. It seems as though you find Arabic culture to be superior to Jewish culture. I am not a Muslim. In fact I am not a very good Christian. I find the God of Abraham, to be a violent God, that prescribes for his prophets to commit genocide, theft, rape, enslavement and other atrocities to be despicable. But people seem to love him for some reason. I know this is kind of random, as I am ranting. But I do find what you said to be arrogant. I can only assume that you are not even Arab, as only 20% of Muslims are Arab. Please forgive me if I am wrong. As if Arabic is the heavenly language of the angels. But, who knows. Allah knows best.

you didnt understand my point. I was saying that the greeting "May Peace be with you" is a superior greeting than just the word "Peace". which it is.

thats the bible version. in the bible version you believe that one prophet got drunk then impregnated his own daughters. in another place another prophet was punished because he ejaculated on the floor instead of in his wife. in another place god came in the form of a man, wrestled a prophet, then lost.

this is not the muslim view of our prophets or our god.

Digitalummah, why do you call Jews and Christians people of the book? We obviously are not the people of the book. Since you see our scriptures as corrupt.

you largely believe in the same god and prophets as we do, we have a common root in prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), and the quran instructs us:

[2.62] Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.

But apparently, the prophets could do no wrong? In our book "the bible" Moses told his military commanders to kill little baby boys. Just like Israel is doing today.

we do not believe that our prophets (peace be upon them) could commit any sin knowingly, or unknowingly. this includes prophet Moses (peace be upon him). the biblical account of his ordering killing babies is not in our texts

Israel has always been a nation of slaughter and mayhem. Moses is a murderer.

according to the bible, yes. in the quran he killed the egyptian guard while trying to defend an israelite who was about to be killed himself.

[28.15] And he went into the city at a time of unvigilance on the part of its people, so he found therein two men fighting, one being of his party and the other of his foes, and he who was of his party cried out to him for help against him who was of his enemies, so Musa struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: This is on account of the Shaitan's doing; surely he is an enemy, openly leading astray.
[28.16] He said: My Lord! surely I have done harm to myself, so do Thou protect me. So He protected him; surely He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
[28.17] He said: My Lord! because Thou hast bestowed a favor on me, I shall never be a backer of the guilty.
[28.18] And he was in the city, fearing, awaiting, when lo! he who had asked his assistance the day before was crying out to him for aid. Musa said to him: You are most surely one erring manifestly.
[28.19] So when he desired to seize him who was an enemy to them both, he said: O Musa! do you intend to kill me as you killed a person yesterday? You desire nothing but that you should be a tyrant in the land, and you do not desire to be of those who act aright.
[28.20] And a man came running from the remotest part of the city. He said: O Musa! surely the chiefs are consulting together to slay you, therefore depart (at once); surely I am of those who wish well to you.

The Quran affirms the "Torah" Islamic scholars claim it is corrupt. The Quran affirms the "Pslams" Islamic scholars claim it is corrupt. The Quran affirms the "Gospel" Islamic scholars claim it is corrupt. Islam; a religion that spawned 600 years after Jesus by a man that could not even write. Islam; a religion whose scripture was not even compiled until long after the the death of their prophet, has "scholars" that defy their own scripture.

shias do not believe that the prophet (peace be upon him) was illiterate. this is sunni idiocy, god knows there is enough of it. the sunni also believe tripe such as the prophet became affected by magic and was suicidal, and scared of gabriel (the same gabriel that was his servant btw). them claiming he was illiterate is nowhere as bad as some of the other stuff they claim about him. believe me.

we believe that islam began with prophet Adam - the message of monotheism and laws to govern ones life - but kept getting corrupted. Jesus was part of this chain. moses was part of this chain. David, solomon, Lot, Noah, ezekiel and all of the ones you know were all part of this same message of monotheism. the holy prophet (pbuh) was the final link in this chain.

the quran was compiled into a book by the third caliph - less than 25 years after the prophet (pbuh) died - and most early muslims who were alive and living alongside the holy prophet knew the quran off by heart as completed by the prophet, during his life, and were able to confirm that the quran was identical to their memory. from that day to this day, there has been an unbroken chain of people across the whole world who have memorised the quran in its entirety. if even a single letter was displaced in the quran, we would know

after WWII one of the earliest versions of the quran surviving was returned to turkey, it was analysed and found to be word for word identical to modern day qurans, so we have actual scientific proof that our quran has never changed.
