Salam,

When a person follows a particular maraja, does he needs to follow the rulings of another maraja in any matter. For instance, i follow ayatollah sistani he gives a fatwa that a particular thing is allowed. But another maraja says it isn't haram but ihtiyat mustahib or ihtiyat wajib or lets say if it is haram. In that case what should a person do.

There are dozens of maraja and its impossible to follow rulings of everyone,

If you follow Sayyed al-Sistani than you are not obliged to pay attention to the fatwa of the other marja. Yes, if you want to take caution, than you could do so.

Hi brother

According to fatwa of all maraja except ayatollah Vahid, this is allowed if some of them are equal. For instance, a person can follow one marja in fasting , other one in praying and third one in marriage. This is in the separate issues and rulings.

But in the rulings which are related to each other, if following two or more marja lead and result in invalidity (Botlan) or definite opposition, it is not allowed. For example, one person can`t follow a marja in impurity of body and clothing and follow another one in rulings of clothing of prayer.

Ayatollah Vahid says that it is not allowed at all
