Please note: Rules do not allow bumping. The one-word reply of Bump or even "Please bump" is also not allowed. If nobody replied to your post, please create a new post that provides more information

Mods will not approve a post with a quote that has no reply. Quoting someone -- without replying anything -- is considered an inappropriate bumping of a thread. ShiaChat is a discussion site. You don't need to write an essay, but one sentence is helpful to explain what you want to say to people.

New members, please note that ShiaChat is a discussion board, which means you are encouraged to discuss. If you merely copy and paste something from another site, which is several pages long, Mod are not obligated to approve your post. Only post a small portion and leave a link so that anyone who wants to read all of that can go there to read it. Members and guests are not happy to scroll and scroll and scroll to get to the next post.

Here is a thought:

For new members, have the completed registration process take them to a "Hello" forum and place this at the top of the forum list separate from the other forums so we can make them feel at home.

Thank you. Site Admins are looking into your suggestion.

If you are not a member here, how can we help you? If you reply again below, Mods and Admins can read your post without making it visible to everyone, in order to know what you need help with.

Guest guest101  You have not given us the name of your old account. If you tell me your old username, then I can edit your profile page for you.

@Gaius I. Caesar

Howdy. Sorry to hijack this thread but I didn't want to make a new one. In the past I was able to disable notifications on reactions but not responses.

Capture.PNG.8c144c2afeeb7bfdc1cb112c4412123e.PNG

This is the only toggle I can find, but it disables both. I don't like to see reactions since they're usually positive, it's not good for my ego.

Recently new members and guests have created posts or threads with an unknown link in their reply. These people were using a "URL shortening service" to post a short link that does not reveal the name of the site to be visited, the article they want you to read, or the name of the item they want to sell you. Mods are not going to approve possibly malicious links.

Salam! (Peace to you) Welcome to ShiaChat.

***** No, you can't use the chat room as soon as you join. You need Advanced status (25 posts in the forums). Participate first and when we know you a little bit you will be allowed to use the chat room.

How to participate: Click on any Forum and click on a topic to read. Click on "Reply to this topic" and write your response. Click the "Submit Reply" button to save your reply. If you have less than 25 posts in the forums, a Moderator will read each post and approve it before it becomes visible.

To start your own topic, click the button called "Start New Topic." Fill in the box called "Title" with words that describe the subject of your topic (not Miss, Mr, Mrs or Dr). Then write in the reply box. If there is a spelling problem, the word will be underlined in red. Make changes, if any, and click the "Submit Topic" button to save your topic. If you have less than 25 posts in the forums, a Moderator will read your topic and approve it.

Guests can participate by replying in topics or starting your own topic.

If you just want to know how ShiaChat works, read the FAQ

[Mod Note: If you were tagged, a Mod noticed that you had a question and this topic might answer it.]

@Fizz786 @Labbayka

Sister @Hameedeh, this is very helpful. I suggest you post this as a pinup in a more VISIBLE location.

A few points about choosing your Guest username:

  • Any topic started by a guest with an inappropriate username will not be approved.
  • Questions by guests are supposed to be anonymous, so do not use your real name or the name of anyone else.
  • If you log in with a username that looks like somebody's real name, Moderators reserve the right to not approve your topic.
  • Questions by a guest that are embarrassing (sexually explicit, masturbation, porn, etc) -- especially if the guest username includes the word Syed (sayyid, sayed, etc.) -- can be ignored, and some, most or all Mods might not approve those kind of posts.

A reminder that guests should not ask a controversial question using the real name of any person. Mods will probably not approve your post or your topic. If accidentally approved, a Mod can remove it.

ShiaChat is a family friendly site and we have very young members and guests reading the forums, so Mods are insistent that appropriate language be used.

For some unknown reason, some members think that they need to be informed to not break the rules before they receive an official warning. It is the responsibility of every member to read through the rules. It's not the responsibility of the Mods to chat with members to tell them not to break rules.

Reminders to read the rules have been posted previously in this very topic. Please read the rules and understand them!

https://www.shiachat.com/forum/topic/12120-shiachatcom-rules-and-policy/

Note: If you get a warning (as seen in your warn log), it is only visible to you, not to other members or guests. Of course Moderators and Administrators can see your warning if they go to your profile. Warnings are not given to harm anyone, just a reminder to be polite and maintain appropriate language.

Guests with inappropriate usernames will not have their posts approved. Guest usernames are not registered, so anyone can use your favorite guest username. If you object that someone has adopted your favorite guest username, then please get over it and choose another one.

Protect your own privacy and respect the privacy of other people.

Do not share personal information about yourself or anyone else, including their contact information, social media accounts, and other identifying information. If you joined ShiaChat using your real name (through Facebook, for example), please post on the profile of an Admin to ask to change your username to something more anonymous:

Some people are asking ridiculous questions. Are they asking to make Islam or Shia Islam look bad? Or creating doubt about religion. Remember the words of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib AS:

Ask in order to understand, and do not ask in order to find fault.

A lot of my posts are also on ‘back order’. Would it be possible to receive reasons for why posts aren’t being approved?

In your case, you have no posts that are available to approve. One post was a message to Mods, so it was off-topic and not approved.

For everyone: Posts by members or guests can be removed or not approved. Some Mods will not approve posts on controversial topics (masturbation, urine, najasat, porn, etc.) if the member or guest has a "religious" name. The person asking those type of questions might be slandering a person who has that real name in real life. Guests should use "anonymous" names, not the name of a real person.

To a guest who posted a link to another website. Please do not post old links that do not work. The post cannot be approved if the link does not work.

FYI: Even if the link is new and works, a Moderator can ignore your post and not approve it, if there is a chance that the Mod's device could be harmed by clicking on an unknown link.
