:bismillah:

Assalam o alikum everyone.

I have migraine for almost one and a half year. Now its like..killing me, I can't study because of it, can't bear noise or light, hot weather triggers it. I have to do a lot of screen work for my weekly assignments and papers, but with this pain it is really very difficult to manage all of my tasks. My pain has become chronic and when it starts I feel like someone is stabbing multiple knives in my head on left side. After that, hangover doesn't let me get up from the floor. I have been using pain killers, drinking more water, using an ice pack, mint oil...but there is nothing as far as i experienced that can stop this pain or delay it.

Any migraine sufferer here ? Please share your experiences and also what type of remedy you people use to get escape d from this pain ?

Or please if someone can share any Dua for this pain...

Thanks in advance...May Allah protect all of you

Salam,

Have you seen a doctor? which pain killers are you using?

Waalikum Assalam

I have visited my family doctor and many more others ...they gave me different types of pain killers, as I said I have this pain from 1.5 years, so I used many medicines (i don't remember even their names), but nothing seemed to help. Doctors usually say, its just a headache which is called migraine.....try finding your pain triggers and you'l be alright.

Walaikom Salam

Headache is a syptom for many diseases and migraine is diagnosed only after excluding other diseases so, I think you have to see your doctor again to rediagnose you illness or to evaluate it. There are many and different kinds of medications for migraine and your doctor has to find what suites you. Migraine is a chronic uncurable disease but it is possible to decrease its intensity or even to delay and farthern  its attacks. I have migraine more than 20 years and I tried many medicines but it worked only for short time. The best thing is to take your medicine immediately once it started and try to relax or sleep. My headache is the worst when it is triggered by hot weather but it is relieved when taking icecream!. Try icecream. Also make dua and read Quran.

 Allah bless you.

Several other lesser known things you should consider.

Glucose intolerance (precursor to diabetes) can cause severe headaches. Many people consume fizzy drinks and lucozade type drinks and this causes glucose to cross the blood brain barrier and cause severe migraines. Stay off sugar and sweet stuff and see what happens.

Wheat intolerance (nor coeliac disease) can cause diarrhea stomach distension and bad sinuses.

Staying off wheat for 2 weeks if you are intolerant will clear sinuses and regulate stomach disorders.

There are medications for migraines. If the medications are not helping, did you inform the dr's of that?

yeah I did, but doctors are like.....go and help yourself, find your pain triggers and avoid them

Can you provide more details about your pain? How does it start? What kind of pain is it (shooting, stabbing, constant, intermittent etc)? Does it involve the whole head or is it localised to certain areas? What symptoms before, during and after? How long does it last? What makes it better? What worsens it? How many times in a month do you get it? How old are you and how long have you been getting it? Do you have any other health problems? Does anyone in your family have migraines or significant health problems? What medications and supplements do you take currently? What meds have you taken in the past, esp for your migraine?

Yeah, I am 21 years old, I have been getting this pain for almost one and a half year, Usually, I feel a very minor bearable pain all the time, but sometimes due to hot weather or when I do a lot of screen work or when I get stressed, sometime with chocolate or sweets, after attending any function (due to noise) it gets worse... throbbing unbearable pain on left side of my head. Before that worse pain, I feel like everybody I am around is being very loud and I can't tolerate noise, sometimes lights also make me uncomfortable. After that sharp pain, I get hangover, I totally feel dizzy, can't get up from my bed and that hangover lasts for three or four days. Now I feel like it has become chronic, I get it on daily basis. I have hormonal imbalance problem but its not that serious. I also get cervical pain and fatigue, don't know if migraine causes fatigue or my daily routine.....I am not sure if my grandparents have had migraine, but my parents and sister never got it. Basically, doctors don't take it seriously, they always say, here are the pain killers and find your pain triggers on your own....I have been using different pain killers, like aspirin, brufin, klodic, I dont remember other names..Now a days, I am not taking any medicine because painkillers don't help me. And I also have insomnia since I got migraine, with a lot of effort I get four or five hours sleep everyday. Mint oil eases the pain for some minutes, Basil leaves salad sometimes help and ice pack or ice cream. I felt a strange thing that I always get migraine before a storm....don't know if it has any relation with storm or not :D....

@zahra kazmi see if you can get your doctor to prescribe stemetil tablets. A 5mg tab of stemetil taken alongwith a painkiller (aspirin, ibuprofen, tylenol) at the onset of prodromal symptoms ( intolerance to light, feeling loud noises) will prevent a full blown migraine headache in 90% of the cases.

meh dont get addicted or dependant of pain killers. Have you checked your blood pressure and if any anaemia you got?

Measure blood pressure. It is highly possible you got low blood pressure. Fatigue and stuff like dizzy are possible due to anaemia or some vessel related issues.

I got headache as well due to screen reading for long time. I went to doctor to get a glasses with protection screen , they told me that my vision is perfect, it is just that my eyes were very dry. Now I'm using glasses when i read from screen and it did me well.

DONT DEPEND ON PAIN KILLERS specially burfen and voltrain. Meh not even paracetamol and defiantly not aspirin.

Get rehydrated, get enough sleep, de-stress , get some laughs, go walk outside, eat healthy food and all will be fixed. If your thyroid hormones are imbalanced and you need to take pills, make doctor double check your hormones again and the dose you take. Again , DO NOT DEPEND ON PAIN KILLERS.

If you are depressed or stressed , find a way out but stay away from drugs except for emergencies.

Migraine has its own medicine and does not only include the usual pain killers. You should see a specialist doctor (neurologist) and get the proper medicine. They will also tell you about the triggers. It is also important to see a neurologist because sometimes the onset of a stroke has almost the same symptoms as a migraine.
