As salamu aleikoum,

Am I the only one to have trouble sleeping in summer ? I mean, since the day is so long, the maghrib/isha prayer and the fajr prayer are so close that I cannot get 8 hours of sleep. I tried to take a nap afterwards but I still can't get enough sleep.

And we are only at april. It will get worse until june. How do you guys manage to get enough sleep, in order to not get tired all day long (there is a lot of work to do !).

Thanks for your answers.

isha/maghrib prayers start at 7:30 pm .... lets say 8pm ... fajr is about 4:45 - 5 am ... so that is equal to 8:30-9 hours of sleep .. a human body can go with about 5 hours of sleep .. sometimes less .. all depends on how long your body is used too ... well as for the helping part ... i would advise to create a schedule where you write in it every thing youll do and when you get up and when you sleep ... that way youll insure you get enough sleep along with finishing your daily activities .. i would also advise you to read dua for gods help ... also fix your food pattern .. only eat healthy foods to make sure that your body has enough energy to withstand another day.... also dont eat alot at dinner .. make it light ... and eat more during breakfast .. and eat medium during lunch ...

Siesta. Nothing beats the power nap during some time in the day. A prophetic tradition lost on liberals but one of the secret tricks of the most successful ones among us.

A trick about siesta, roll over wherever it hits you even if you are in the car, park in a safe parking area and doze off for 15-30 min. Siesta vanishes away as soon as you create a condition for it, like going to bedroom, darkening the room etc. So don't create conditions, just close eyes wherever it appears.

Happy Zzzzzs and Friday mabrook.

What does being a liberal have to do with taking a nap?

Where I live, maghrib/isha is at 8.44 pm and fajr is 4.34 am (until 6.41 am, although I noticed that the sun is already "up", according to shia fiqh, 30 minutes before that !). Since I'm so slow for doing salat (because of doubts), I sometimes go to bed at 9.40 pm, + a little while before I fall asleep, and I have to wake up at 5.40 in order to have enough time before sunrise.

I agree with you with the light dinner. In fact, I always eat 4 or 5 hours before getting to sleep and I try to not overeat. However, sometimes I still manage to eat too much and I feel full until bedtime... lol

Indeed, I always take a nap around noon. I can't resist it, I feel too tired otherwise.

I have this issue as well. In the summer maghreb can be as late as 9:25 and isha at 10:41. And on top of that, fajir hovers around 4:00. Throw in dua kumayl and salatu-layl and you have a doozy and a half. It's so nice in the winter, everything is done by around 5pm and fajir takes it's sweet time to arrive.

Don't get up for Salat ul layl during the night. Wake bit early for fajr and offer SuL before fajr.

Take a nap during the day.I do not understand how people in the west function without sleep all day. :P I am a zombie by maghrib and a very irritated one too if I miss my nap.

Fajr runs from about 5:30-6:44 where I live, so I get up, clean off, and say it (quietly so to not disturb the other people sleeping) around 6:30. I rarely if ever get 8 hours anymore, usually about 6-7 hours and I do fine, occasionally napping during the day if I have to. That will likely change when I start working again, and I'll more than likely be getting up around 5:45 to offer it.

I also don't go right to bed after Isha. I have to take my meds and that usually takes about 45min to an hour to knock me out.

Your body gets used to it. When your body realizes that there is less darkness, then it adjusts to going into REM sleep accordingly.

Besides, if you think about it we really go to sleep the same time and wake up at the same time anyway. Its just that Fajr is much sooner and maghrib is much later. Other than that there really isn't any change to our day.

Different climate :)

In most European countries , crossing 30degC becomes a news headline and something that you only see in the peak of summer. At around 34degC they start issuing warnings to people and relax dress codes in offices.

do you sleep less than 8 hours?

Lately I’ve been averaging around 3-4 hours but that’s because my body is so used to additional fatigue that I’m not getting due to the Stay At Home status in the U.S.

Normally, I do about 5 hours a night.
