As salam alaykoum wa rahmatoulahi wa barakatuh,

I was wondering what the rules concerning a mother praying with her son(s). Where do they have to stand? What if daughter(s) are there as well, where do they stand? If someone could please "paint" me a mental picture... Does it make a difference their age and levels of knowledge?...

JazakAllah khairan for your answers!

Quote

The Sixth Condition: As an obligatory precaution, women should stand behind men while praying. At least, her place of Sajdah should be in line with his thighs, when in Sajdah.

Issue 896: * If a woman stands in line with man, or in front of him in Salat, and both of them begin together, they should repeat their prayers. And the same applies if one of them starts earlier than the other.

Issue 897: * If a man and a woman are standing side by side in Salat ,or woman is in front, but there is a wall, curtain, or something else separating them, so that they cannot see each other, the prayers of both of them are in order. Similarly, the prayers of both will be valid if the distance between them is ten arms.

If you are all praying in singular form : Salah Fardyiah, then the positions of daughters to mother dose not matter. Boys either be just infront of them , not necessary directly infront or they can pray in another section of room or another room.

We usually have the boys infant of us in our house prayer room , or we pray in 2 rooms. The youngling get accustomed to it now and they always pray just a meter far from the wall leaving the rest of the room for us.

W. A. Salaam,

The ahkaam that were mentioned are for the mukallafs, so there is no problem in the case of non-mukallafs. It is good, however, that they learn this before becoming mukallafs and get used to it.

Concerning the level of knowledge, there is no difference here.

Peace!
