Brother and sister forum

Recommended Posts

Salam all.

I just want to say that we should not allow brothers and sisters forum be so open to everybody.

Brothers should only be allowed in brothers section.  Sisters should only be allowed in sisters section.

I mean,  if you had a daughter or sister. And out of curiosity she visits the brothers section, and reads about porn and masturbation habits. Would you like that?

That might been a bad example,  but there's alot more.

Therefore I would highly suggest that brother and sisters section are gender restricted.

Can we password protect it?? I  know its difficult to segregate the sections gender based but its an idea. Some mods from brothers and sisters can give out the passwords after "making sure" that the other person is what he says he/she is. Its just an idea. I know its difficult to implement but not impossible. There should be a segregation I think.

I already asked for this segregation to happen before, but in the end I was met with rage comments from liberals and feminists. I don't believe they will let this happen - but insha Allah they do.

Btw, insha Allah we will not see any shouting from "activists" on this thread

the girl should control herself from peeping in such forums

you see if you dont live in a muslim country , 18+ websites are always open

just like how girls stay away from them, you guys should do it here too

lol

and also any boy out there can make a fake account of a girl to peep into sister forums so its no use

Another idea. Why don't we display the names of users, to all, who are or have visited the brothers and sisters specific forums? I mean this way others can see alright this user visited this forum and he is not a girl or she is not a boy. This can help us in this matter. I mean if we open a specific Topic under these two forums, we should be displayed the names of people who visited the forum since a day or a week. Its a suggestion.

:ws:

I don't think it's possible. Even if we figure about the gender of some of the Forumers, it's not possible to do it for everyone & then, how hard is it to make a new account just to stalk!? Stalkers will stalk, you can't control them. But... Making it restricted to only Forumers could help? or is it already that way?

Like Br. Magma said, there is no way for us to know whether a member is male or female. We only know based on whatever information they choose to give us, and many times this information is wrong / false / pretend.

Mechanisms like password protection run into the same problem, and it just creates an extra step for those who are sincere, of the proper gender for the forum and seeking advice, and it doesn't stop the 'pretenders'.

If someone truly wants a topic to be private, they should use the PM system, and not post to a public forum, period, whether it is brothers or sisters forum. BTW, almost everything that is a problem on the brothers side is an equal or greater problem on the sisters side. The difference is that most sisters have more 'social intelligence', i.e. they are not going to post things publicly that have a chance of being traced back to them thru various means. Private things should be discussed in private among trusted family members or friends, alim, etc. This goes for both brothers and sisters.

if brothers and sisters forums can be accessed and both genders can participate XD it make them obsolete ?

It actually encourage people to discuss questionable topics because they get wrong impression that the other gender won't stick its nose into the topic !

I say down to these forums, make them one called : gender specific forum OR just abolish them.

It's better if they are open, and I say this not because of an ideological basis. I say this because false belief of privacy is everything one should avoid on the internet.

In the community I used to ran we had to make it completely private (ruining the SEO of the site) and implementing a system in which all members had to ask for access through a brief introduction and wait for administration to approve their membership). Still, privacy was only factual towards people who dont know the site (as posts won't appear in google). As for those who are already members, they can easily bypass any control we had.

This suggestion has been discussed and dismissed many times. Parents are responsible for the internet use by their minor children, and adults are responsible for their own use. There is no privacy or anonymity on the internet, so there is no reason to create a false sense of security.

Wouldn't this mean guests/non-members wouldn't be able to search/access the brother/sister forum? What if they had questions that have been created in these forums, discussed and answered.

Wouldn't this be better for shiachat? Just be more becoming a member.

True. But I can also buy a fake ID easily.  Doesn't mean we should take the regulations off of for example driver licence.

My point is. During account creation you chose whether male or female.

Then you need for example 50 post to be able to enter the gender restricted area.

There are several other ways to encounter this problem. But I don't think you mods/ admins want this.

It's freaking unbelievable that mods and admins of this site can't figure out this problem.

Some questions are supposed to be a discussion between brothers only or sisters only. The gcpd or whatever is for private questions that one might not want to be so public.

Well keep on with the game talks in brothers forum whether super Mario is better or his turtle friends.

BTW I pmed Abu Hadi one month ago, and I still haven't received any answer. Maybe he didn't see it idk. @Abu Hadi

Why do you even care so much? Let people run their site as they consider best...

If you have a specific issue you don't want women to read, the best move is to privately contact someone, and I can tell you for sure it would be better if it was a real life bi-directional conversation.
