Interesting article on Saudi Wahhabi Sheikh Nasser al-Umar issuing fatwa upon incest

http://www.alhadathnews.net/archives/96136

is that some official website for Nasser al Omar's fatwa? Is there a video of him where he talks about his alleged fatwa... i am doubtful about what you claimed as i could not find any reliable source... or any reliable media outlet. All there is on the Internet are some western or shia blogs. He however denies another similar fatwa attributed to him earlier on on a reliable media outlet like gulf news.

:bismillah:

Salam,

Gulf News are reliable media outlet?

Actually, how do we, who are not familiar with any media outlets from the gulf states in general, how do we determine who is reliable and truthfull, or just serves the royals of their country? Or sell propaganda? What are the criteria? How do you choose whom to trust, brother Bukhari8k? Can you explain your criteria?

And if you could, please mention three or four gulf newspapers, that you trust and read regularly?

I would really, really want to read their point of view (from serious newspapers), but here in rural Switzerland we do not see Qatari or Saudi newspapers being sold at the kiosk in the village center... :-(

Salam and thank you in advance,

Amina

It's very common for people to randomly make something up, attribute it to some scholar, and then everyone else just goes with it without verifying anything.  Shias try to perpetuate bad things that have supposedly been said by Sunnis and Sunnis perpetuate things supposedly said by Shias, just to make the other side look bad.  But in the end, we all look bad.

W'salam

Gulf news is more reliable than any of those websites. According to Forbes:

The newspaper won the Asia - Pacific award for best newspaper production in July 1990. The online edition of the paper was reported by Forbes Middle East in 2010 to be the number one among the English-language online newspapers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as well as in the UAE. However, The paper's online version was the seventh mostly visited website among all online websites in the same ranking.Forbes Middle East named it as the third in the Arab world in the period from 31 August 2011 to 31 August 2012.

However, may it be gulf news or al ahram....media outlets whether private or state owned also serve certain agendas. It is just that while "quoting" an individual, these media outlets would show a bit more responsibility than those blogs (that some people really really enjoy reading, perhaps).
