Salam Sister..

Welcome to the family :) May Allah protect you and keep you guided on the right path.

There are many members on this site from UK, inshallah one of them will answer your question soon.

meanwhile you might enjoy reading the conversion stories of other reverts here and maybe would like to post yours too sometime :

Dear Sister, im so pleased to read that you want to take the Shahadah.  Please refer to the IUS website, as i believe they have a centre in Manchester where the sisters can support you in your conversion to Islam. IUS Islamic Unity Society. If you ever come to London, send me a PM, we can meet at a nice centre i know. Tc sis.

Salam Sister welcome to the family!

I am from manchester and MashaAllah there is an absolutely massive Shia community here, including a very active youth scene such as the IUS, Mohebban al Mahdi and other youth societies for every hussainia. there are 4 Pakistani hussainias within the city limits - 404, Al Hussain centre, Al Muntazir centre and Al Raza Centre. there is 1 Iraqi Centre and 1 Iranian Centre, as well as a shia madressa called jamia tul Muntazir. failing that there is almost too many to count smaller hussainias dotted around the area.

here is the closest thing to a complete list that you will find, have a look whats nearest to you

http://majlis.org.uk/shia-islamic-centres-in-uk/

there is also a respectable sized shia community in Derby, and a hussainia there.

if you are looking for classes that are sister friendly. I would suggest Jamia tul Muntazir centre in Cheetham Hill, manchester. here is their facebook page:

this was their summer fun day

My uncle is actually the principal of the school :) I know they definitely have classes every sunday, if you are interested I will hook you up with sisters there.

or there is the IUS, although their functions are based on events, not (as far as i know?) weekly meet ups. this is their site

https://www.ius.org.uk/

hope this helps. any questions just @ me

Wa aleikum as salam sisters, thank you for your quick responses and your help. Inshallah I will check out the links you have sent me now. :)

One other thing, do you sisters have any advice for me for attending a mosque? I have been to Sunni mosques before but never to a Shi'a. Is there anything significantly different?

oh yeah theres a few things. you need to:

- say the secret password on entry ("Iran is great aint it, Oh Irans the best, all the other countries are run by little girls")

- give the secret handshake:

But what's the punishment if you don't like turnips?

well, this is where it gets complicated I'm afraid.

first your turnip-hating heretic actions need to be reviewed by the committee:

latest?cb=20151231182231

then you will OBVIOUSLY  need to show you know proper implentation of the hijab, befitting a shia sister

as you already know, all shia sisters are ninjas, so you will need to demonstrate your teachings

and finally, if you pass all these tests, you will need to prove you have studied cat-ology to the correct standard. we shia are a cat loving people
