alcohol ALCOHOL PUNISHMENT?!?!

Salaam brothers and sister. 

So I live in a western society like most of you, however as you may tell by the title this has to do with alcohol. So a few weeks earlier, I made a big, big mistake. I went into a bar for one. And secondly I drank alcohol. Knowing very good and well that it's haram and I know the effects of alcohol in the body, I.e. 30 days with no acceptance of prayers, can't hold the Quran etc. 

and the same day I did this I felt so bad it's killing me inside everyday I hate myself everyday for doing this to myself. I really, really wish I could repent by praying, but I know that my prayers wouldn't be accepted. Waiting 30 days for prayers is too long for me, unfortunately, I should have known better in that case..

Will Allah forgive me? I can't tell this to my family or anyone. People ask me why don't you pray when everyone else's praying I honestly feel smaller than an ant I don't know how to respond. I need help brothers and sisters. Any suggestions?

Salaam,

You still have to pray. Just as a punishment for intentionally sinning in this manner, prayers for those 30 (I think it might be 40?) days aren't accepted. Not praying and leaving the prayer is still a sin in itself.

The best thing to do is to vow to avoid going to places where alcohol is consumed and start praying again. Make regular dua and be sincere in your repentence.

It is not appropriate to reveal your sins to others. Allah has covered our sins, don't expose what Allah has veiled from the people to protect your. 

P.S. As a note: if you want to keep this hidden from others, I'd recommend removing your picture on here. Not a good idea for this to be your first post accompanied by an actual picture of yourself (assuming it is).

I think you have misunderstood something. The fact that your prayers aren't accepted doesn't mean you aren't suppose to pray! It's still wajib on you to pray, and you can still make dua, and ask Allah to forgive you. Never despair of the Mercy of Allah.

It doesn't make any sense. If drinking alcohol makes your prayer not acceptable for thirty days, then would this not count as a major sin i.e., to be absent from your prayers, which is an important daily connection to God? So because you drank alcohol, you will be disconnected from Allah (s.w.t) for thirty days? Brother, not to hurt any sentiments here, but this is illogical! 

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped. (39:53-54)

Thank you guys for your help! I will now repent my sin whole heatedly and ask Allah for forgiveness and I won't miss a prayer. Had it not been for you, had I not known what to do. This really means a lot to me, it really does. Thank you for clarifying for me.

While we're allowed to drink alcohol moderately, we have a classical cure to excessive consumption which may be applied with no little profit to those finding themselves difficult to deny even a drink. Be very careful as the fight against alcohol is no joke. Absolutely no joke. And it's like any other drug, don't get deceived. The addiction starts VERY early.
