My phones: Sammy note 2 + note 4

Once you go big (screen) you can't go back!

My list of Apps are boring and standard hence not worth the mention. Actually I don't know what standard is anymore when it comes to mobile tech, but i'm assuming its facebook, twitter, youtube, WhatsApp, skype, blah blah blah, all the stock apps and the biggons.

Other then the usual suspects which Apps are you using? and if they offer anything UNIQUE, what is it?

Bottom line, I don't feel smart with my smartphone, hence the green robot could do with some pampering

Apple fans, no fitnah pls. Once you go Apple you go bananas!

good topic... I will be following this.......

I don't have an android phone but the tab kids and I share is an android.....but almost all of mine are kiddie apps on it so I won't be able to suggest anything that you might like.  One of the apps that I have  is  'NeuroNation' it's an app with lots of mental exercises to improve focus, episodic memory and logical thinking. I would highly recommend it if you are into these kind of things. Besides this there is this app called 'Word Search'  which is just what the name says , its a word search game.  After SC its the only thing that I have found to have high addictive potential, again not something that you might be interested in , I loved playing wordsearch when I was in school so that's why I enjoy it on a tab too.

I have also go this photo size reducing app called 'reduce photo size' , which is quite useful when you want ti upload pics on SC...lol I recommended it to some others members here and they found it helpful too.

Sorry I can't be of much help, but I still haven't gotten round the concept of  'smart'phone. I am smart by myself   I don't need a phone.........

I don't know whether these apps are 'android' apps cz I don't know how to tell but I use the following:

1) Call Recorder (allows to record calls and save & send them to my email)

2) My Knox - One of my favourite apps. Allows me to run Samsung on two platforms. One for regular use, other for business/work.

3) Medisafe (Pill reminder)

4) S Health (Fitness App) - I actually use it to keep a count of my calorie in take. And I like how we can measure our Stress levels, Heart Rate and SpO2.

5) Track My Money - Has allowed me to save a lot of money. I ended up saving $13000 in 6 months. It just encourages you to add more to the account and spend less. I quit regular addictions like coconut water from nearby station ($4.50), calling overseas, online shopping, purchasing apps, memberships e.t.c

6) SVD - To download Facebook videos. I sometimes use it to share vids with friends on wats app

7) Reverse - Reverses your video which means that if you throw an object, it will make it appear as if you actually used telekinetic powers to lift it. lol Had to send it to my brother  (Apple customer)

My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is running on basic. I see the S Health that Br. Abbas mentioned, but I haven't turned it on yet. I use S Note to create notes that I want to keep: to-do list, grocery list, a couple of favorite recipes, etc. The usual: camera, calendar, clock, calculator.

Google maps is probably the most productive for me, really helps with finding stuff nearby  and navigating whether restaurants or stores etc.

In terms of unique apps probably nova launcher as it allows a lot of customization and clean master for maintenance.

Phone 1: Samsung S6.
Other names: the beauty, piece of art, lovely, class act etc

Phone 2: A Chinese made android tablet I use only as e-reader.
Other names: something-better-than-nothing, please-die, guzara, chalo-koi-nahi.

My apps:

I'm a light user with a minimum of apps on my phone. The most frequently used app is Whatsapp. Lately I've been using it a lot to keep in touch with friends and family. Had it not been for my sister abroad, I would not have signed up on Whatsapp. But I'm glad I did. It's cool. Better than to spend credit on international texting and use email to send messages.

Other apps I regularly use:

2) YouTube. The site is banned on regular platforms in Pakistan but they forgot to ban the android app. So it works there without a proxy. That helps.

3) Oxford English Dictionary (After the 30-day trial it pays to purchase a subscription. It's really detailed and handy).

4) Moon+ Reader (my ultimate e-reader app. Purchased version works on multiple devices. Reads back to me when my eyes are tired).

5) Salam Ya Hussain app (been using it over the muharram to access material on the go. Good work guys).

6) S Planner and S Health. Like Abbas. said, it's a very useful app. I was required to buy a pulse oximeter to measure my mother's SpOwhen she was recovering. This app saved me money. Samsung S6 has a censor right below the flash where you can put your finger to measure it.

7) TPL tracker. As the name says it, it tracks my car.

Hmm what else...

@starlight now you can reduce image size directly after uploading the pic on SC. I like that this new feature saves time.

Nice...some interesting apps.

I have to admit the one that caught my attention instantly is 'Medisafe' from Abbas's list. Just checked, yes its available on Android. Definitely something my parents 'will' benefit from.

I don't know if you guys would be interested - I'm using:

1. Teamviewer - Basically it allows you to access your entire computer/laptop remotely. On my app, I have all our work computers, my personal laptop and family comps and lappies. I can help them troubleshoot, log in from anywhere to 'log off' (very handy to control kids from sitting on the machine excessively) and extract files on the move if needed. On top you can access any file or application just the same as sitting in front of the machine. FREE TOO!

2. Genie - Another great app which links to my router where I can control Wifi permissions. Again very handy especially managing kids going nuts for some www fever. (I think this one is Netgears personal app - maybe other router brands offer the same)

3. Dead Trigger 2 - That's right, big boy baby games lol. It's one of 3 games I currently have installed, a good Zombie shoot'em up. Who knows the skills acquired may help to tackle ISIS zombies too, JIHAD TIME!

4. Tasks & Notes - Great app to link your desktop outlook todo lists to your phone. Works vice versa, never had an issue with it! Costs a few quid though and I guess if the sync is not what your looking for, opt for the free apps!

5. Go Launcher Ex - I haven't tried other launchers but love this one. Feature rich, not that I bother with em but for me the primary winner is the ability to lock the screen from accidentally moving apps. Lock not as in pin or swipe code but just keeping everything in place whilst using the phone.

6. CamCard - Great app to save business cards. Snap a shot and it picks off the data automatically though not always perfectly hence requiring some manual amendments. Saves time though. Offer folders to organise too. Best feature: Allows access from desktop as its cloud based and all contacts appear in phone list too. (+sync to other phones, I currently have mine linked with partners)

I guess the others I can think of as most used are cloud apps, Dropbox, Onedrive and Google drive.

Strangely, just reflecting on certain uses which I took for granted, I feel smarter already :P

It's been blocked for like 3/4 years after the "Innocence of Muslims" film fiasco. YouTube refused to take it down so our government blocked it in a knee jerk moment. But it's easily accessible via the basic of proxies so it doesn't matter.

My post came with a stroke of fortuitousness. We're able to access Youtube since last week. It seems they have lifted the ban quietly, perhaps to see how the mullahs would react. Or it might be that there's some glitch enabling us to access blocked sites.

Ssshhh don't tell Nazu ganja.

alQuran is the best android and iphone app. It's developed by a shia. The best part of it is that it is completely free, has many translations in different languages including Ali Quli Qarai's English translation, recitations by famous Qaaris, and audio translations of the quran in English, Farsi and others.

I love the farsi audio translation. I can just listen to it on the bus/train.
