Videos For Muharram

Salaam Alaikum again everyone (I know I am posting a lot of things tonight/today--depending on your time zone)

Since Muharram is around the corner, I was wondering if anyone could provide links to videos that they find insightful, moving, or educational. My knowledge on Imam Hussein (as) is unfortunately rather limited, and this Muharram I would love to learn more.  And videos would be greatly appreciated.

Salaam :)

But if you want to know him, recite Du'a Arafah in the coming day of Arafah. It was the Du'a of Imam Hussain.

History wise, these days were days of messengers coming and leaving Madinah from Kufah and elsewhere calling Imam Hussain to come and claim Khilafah. There was an order to kill Imam Hussain even if he was hanging on the cloths of Ka'bah. Imam Hussain made a last visit to his grandfather grave then headed to Mecca, performed Omrah before he was forced to flee with his family, all of his family including women and heads to Iraq.

With his departure from Madinah and subsequent Martyrdom, the safety left the city of Madinah. A messenger came to Madinah announcing his death thus " O people of Yathrib (old name of Madinah) there is no longer a residence for you in this city for Hussain was killed ..The body of his is on Karbala sand covered with his blood while his head is on spear moving around cities)

As Sayyid Hassan said, the tragedy is so vast and of multi levels and aspects that one lecture or one Muharam cannot explain it fully. Its consequences and its causes are all topics of contemplation and reflect. During muharram, the speakers focus on the day of the tragedy itself. If you listened well, you will pick up allot of what went wrong that day and how great this man and how great he was standing there saying what he said and doing what he did.

as salamu alaykum,

for anyone interested I highly recommend the videos of our mentor ayatollah vahid khorsanei, on imam hussayn as which have English subtitles for non farsi speakers. also the lectures of sayyid faharat musawi, sayyid fazl musawi, and shaykh sakhwat are nice for Urdu speakers, as for Arabic lectures sheikh rahimi in Toledo does a nice job, shaykh hisham in Dearborn, shaykh halibi in fl, and of course they are so many good khatib in najaf and khadhimiyyah, I also think that for English speakers sayyid abbas aleyyah is good, as while as khatib Khalil jaffar, and and shaykh safdar.
