Let's help a few brothers and sisters strengthen their iman. It is quite hard to hold onto religion in our time, especially in the west as all finds explanation through science. All while divine books are explained as part of the evolution of our intelligence/knowledge (God of the gaps). Even the moral lessons and actions are no longer viewed as divine but barbaric or simply ancient. 

Rather than arguing which religion speaks the truth, let's start with the origin of it- the Almighty.

 

My proof is fitra, though for many this isn't proof enough. Even for myself at times my feelings sway, though thankfully my rope to God never snaps. Some claim it is caused by indoctrination/condition from a young age. However, if so, why do many members of non-religious families turn to religion? Then comes the idea of cultures and our way of thinking.

I would ask them how many hours they have to spare. This is a subject that deserves years of in-depth study, but people deal with it like this:

 

 

Having said that, it is possible to learn life changing proofs within even a few minutes.

 

I would use a combination of cosmological, teleological and transcendental arguments.

 

I would also think it is beneficial to demonstrate that there is more certitude on the existence of God, than in the nature of the external world.

how easy would this be grasped by the layman?, considering intellectual capacities are different, that even I would have to google the three main words that you have used, just to remember what they stand for.

The simplest and best response comes from the answers our Imams (as) gave to these questions.  The contingency of the universe proves it is not eternal and thus requires a non-material cause or creator.  The material world that surrounds us is finite and constantly undergoing change.  There would be no change or coming in/going out of existence to speak of if the universe was everlasting or eternal.

 

Check the first book of al-Kafi for more hadith on this topic from the Imams (as).

 

Moreover, the Big Bang theory confirms the time-space continuum we experience did not always exist and therefore the universe was created.

If there's no ultimate judgment, there's no firm and objective ground for morality.

If the whole thing was started from an accident and will end in an accident and between the two there is nothing but chaos and accidental injustice, this kind of mindset only creates people who only seek more pleasure in this life by any means possible.
