Advanced Member Mzwakhe 817 Posted June 13, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) salam, has anyone seen how long it takes for light to take effect when say one is praying in a small room, then there's that power shedding. upon follows complete darkness which gradually improves to such a point that the patterns on the prayer mat are visible. what is the cause of this? as at times in utter darkness, when one closes the eyes for a few moments the opens them, then the sight of objects is improved. ws salam, t'was meant to be the slow speed of LIGHT , sorry. ws Edited February 26, 2020 by Hameedeh Title changed from Time to Light. Moderators starlight 14,523 Posted June 13, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted June 13, 2015 'Light and dark adaptation' It's a phenomenon by which our eyes adapt to changes in amount of light in the visual field. It's mainly a function of one of the layers of retina. There is pigment in retina known as 'rhodopsin' which decomposes upon exposure to light and reforms in the dark enabling us to see in dimly lit or dark rooms.Change in the diameter of the pupil and adaptive changes in the neural circuitry of retina have also got some role in dark adaptation. For some reason I misread the topic as 'the slow speed of internet' :p not once but thrice The Green Knight, Mzwakhe, hasanhh and 1 other 3
Advanced Member Ghulam e Ale Mohammad 124 Posted June 14, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 14, 2015 We are never in the present moment physically, due to the delay of time. For example when you see something in front of you, the light from that particular image bounces off and enters your pupil, that image is inverted [upside down]. Then you brain process that light ray [photon] and projects the corrected image to your screen [eyes]. This process delay the time by a factor of millions of milli-seconds, which is really negligible in real life. Now there are many forces in this vast universe that overcomes the speed of light and light speed changes through the median it travels.

The time it took for you to read that thrice is so short. I know you don't do Qur'an like that though through the Wrapped one, slowly.

It has nothing to do with the raw perceptual data of visual light itself. Rather It is in the mind that attempts to focus by a constraining or by an attention and limitation. The mind itself is a constraining or a focusing. And this constraining mind is not always there, it comes into existence and goes back out of existence. It focuses (when we turn our attention and stare at something for more than a second) and then becomes relaxed again (especially when we are in deep sleep). You are not your mind, the mind is a mere activity. Shahrukh K

Recently they have produced scientific evidence for that through experimentation on people doing bungee jumping then comparing it to people in relaxed state. People with minds at alert are processing data significantly faster so times seems to slow down for them. Mzwakhe
