(salam)

I have a few questions pertaining to Jama'at Namaz.

i) If there are only 2 people participating in Jama'at, where does the 2nd person stand in relation to the Imam?

Please answer the following relating to each namaz specifically:

ii) Which parts does the Imam recite aloud and which parts silently?

iii) Which parts does the follower recite aloud and which parts silently?

(wasalam)

ii) The Imam Recites Fatiha and following surah whilst everyone stand silent

iii) the follower recites all of it silently but does not recite Fatiha or the following Surah after Fatiha.

My own question:

1) What do I do when I arrive midway and they have done first Rakah?

Everything, I have no clue what do when I am late.

salam,

Do the niyah and then takbiratul ahram , and then join the jamat when imam is in ruku. it will be counted as your first rakat.

if u r very late such that imam is already in ruku then u can say "ya Allah" loudly, if the imam hears it he will prolong his ruku so that you may join, and when you have done niyah and takbiratul ahram say Allah hu akbar loudly so that imam may know that you have joined.

Hmm, seems very complicated. And I don't want to cut anyone from their prayers so I will arrive on time or do it alone.

It is very complicated and hard to explain. You really have to see someone doing it to be able to do it.

As the previous brother said, you only join if the congregation is reciting the surahs or are in ruku. After that, you follow the Imam as normally, except that you read the Surahs yourself if the Imam isn't (ex: If the Imam is in 4th rakat). Also, if the Imam is saying Tashahhud and you aren't supposed to be, you put your palms on the ground as if you're about to get up. You stay in that position until the Imam finishes Tashahhud, after which you get up with the rest of the congregation. And if you are supposed to be saying Tashahhud and the Imam gets up straight away, you finish your Tashahhud and then join the Imam. If the Imam is finishing his Salat and you still have to get up, you may get up after the Imam begins the taslim.

If I have made any mistakes, please correct me.

Salaam brother

This is from Imam Khomeini/Ayatollah Khamenei. Scroll down to page 153. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6rz5f3vgj1rywy0/X-s313h528/A%20Guide%20to%20Religious%20Laws%20-%20Mohammed%20Falah-Zadeh.pdf

Perhaps someone can confirm the rules are the same for those not following those 2 maraji

Thank you, that link was alot of help. From what I can deduce, the follower stands to the right of the Imam, a little bit behind him.

Brother Khalilullah, you would do well to read this link, it is very useful.
