Salat Al-Witr After Isha?

Is it permissable to offer Salat al-Witr following the Isha prayer, as Sunnis do? Or is it fixed into the tahajjud time?

I believe that this is the most recommended nafil prayer. Is this correct?

Since the time it self - half of hour before the Fajr- has a kind of priority, it is greatly recomended to set alarm in order to do it at its exclusive time.

There are many encouraging traditions in this regard that I know the Arabic and have no time to translate all in English, just I try to put some as examples;

عدة الداعي و نجاح الساعي، ص: 207

 

كَذَبَ مَنْ زَعَمَ‏ أَنَّهُ‏ يُحِبُّنِي‏ فَإِذَا جَنَّهُ اللَّيْلُ نَام‏

The one who thinks he loves me but when night comes he sleeps [ neglectfully and does not wake up to do Salat Layl] , is lying.

ُ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَقُومُ فِي اللَّيْلِ فَيَمِيلُ بِهِ النُّعَاسُ يَمِيناً وَ شِمَالًا وَ قَدْ وَقَعَ ذَقَنُهُ‏ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ فَيَأْمُرُ اللَّهُ أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ فَتُفَتَّحُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ انْظُرُوا إِلَى عَبْدِي مَا يُصِيبُهُ مِنَ [فِي‏] التَّقَرُّبِ إِلَيَّ بِمَا لَمْ أَفْتَرِضْهُ عَلَيْهِ رَاجِياً مِنِّي ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ ذنب [ذَنْباً] أَغْفِرُ لَهُ أَوْ تَوْبَةً أُجَدِّدُهَا لَهُ أَوْ رِزْقاً أَزِيدُهُ فِيهِ اشْهَدُوا يَا مَلَائِكَتِي أَنِّي قَدْ جَمَعْتُهُنَّ لَه‏

Some times the believer gets up to do Salat-Layl, but he is sleepy, so that his head coming down and up out of sleep.[ this does not sound awkward rather] makes God says: Oh, angles of Heavens, open the doors of sky and look at my servitude! how much suffer he bears to become close to me ....

The main goal of Salaat al-Witr is to be awake while all people are asleep and speak with your Lord privately.
