Is it fair to say that Shias are the people and political movements in the Middle east that are keeping the Ummah from falling apart?

I would say no, Both Shias and Sunnis are trying to keep the Ummah from crumbling. But i would say that the Shias are doing most of the work.

I agree with this.  There are brothers and sisters on both sides who are making the effort to keep the Ummah together, but sadly, and I say this as someone who came to Islam through Sunni sources and by attending a Hanafi masjid, but there seems (in my opinion) far more hatred coming from the Sunni.  It really just makes me sad, but I have so much respect for the Shi'a who continue to refer to Sunni as brothers despite all the terrible things that I see writen by Sunnis about the Shi'a.  Aside of the evidences from Qur'an and Hadith, just the behavior and general disposition of the Shi'a that I've known or seen around here, I'm getting more convinced by the day.

 

The saddest thing is to hear a Sunni refer to a Shi'a as a kafir, and the most noble thing perhaps to hear the Shi'a refer to the Sunni as a brother.  Allahu Akbar!

The people who are Sunni and are causing discord are a victim of the manipulations of people in higher positions, they follow their ignorance which is easily used to make them act in a sectarian manner, of course they don't act to cause division but the root cause of the problem is not from Sunnis or Shias, the root is from non Sunnis and non Shias who are aware of what they are doing and causing discord is the aim.

 

Any person who acts in a sectarian/offensive way, whether he be Shia or Sunni, is a victim of the plans of those inciters of sectarianism.

If you take a look at the nature of UK politics over the past 4 centuries, you will see how they have always armed and funded minorities in order to cause civil wars within a nation to weaken it before conquering it.

 

It happened in Japan between the Shogunate and the Emperor

It happened with the Mughals and the Maratha

It happened with the Ottoman empire

It happened to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria

It also happened in Iran, the Monarchy before the revolution was from a minority 

 

Brother, it is very clear how the western powers roll in the Islamic nations. After all who does sectarianism benefit? I see a vast majority of Shias and Sunnis calling for unity yet they are still fighting each other? How many Sunnis today do you know who would say they support ISIS or war with Shias?

 

When I say those Sunnis who act in a sectarian manner, they are not doing it for the sake of sectarianism, they have another goal which also causes sectarianism but the main objective is not to cause sectarianism.

 

I really don't see why you would find it a little more than naive.

Well, I don't really believe unity with the Sunnis is possible without us allowing ourselves to become more Sunni in our outlook. There are different kinds of unity and I think some of this unity with Sunnis is indeed possible, but Sunnis and Shi'a have been arguing and fighting for almost 1400 years, long before there was any United States or Zionist entity to manipulate them into fighting and these tensions were stoked by a mixture of socio-economic, political and religious factors.

 

My own position these days is that oppression of the Shi'a by the Sunnis or other worldly powers is ultimately inevitable and is the price we have to pay for our faith. Not that this will remain true in all cases, but I think the hope that there will be some great period of Pan-Islamic unity is a bit of a pipedream or will only result in one of the two (or I should say two of the three, if you wish to count the Ibadis) losing those qualities that make them distinct from the other. As long as the Sunnis are committed to the personage and authority of their caliphs, it is inevitable there will be conflict between us on some level and it is inevitable that the Shi'a will suffer for their rejection of those caliphs at the hands of some Sunni zealots. Forcing us together at the expense of those things which we each hold true in opposition to the other won't create peace and stability, but will only increase animosity, or create [Edited Out]ized schools of thought which try to impose their will and unifying vision on both parties.
