Salam 3aleykom
Hi, I am new here. I am an ex-sunni

before I move on to the topic I would like to say why i left sunni islam.
I have always been a believer, I have never had a doubt about there being a God. I was never a religious person and my family is a very mixed and non religious one.
Since I read the first few pages of the Quran, I knew these were not the words of a man, but someone divine and that Islam is the true religion. I also have been following world politics and am a deep thinker about issues, and this led me to connect almost every aspect in my life to what is true and false. It all is connected and makes perfect sense in politics, religion, science, art and culture. We have true and false.
I came to realize politically that sunnis align themselves with the enemies of Islam. knowingly or not they are on the wrong side. And if you notice to what the zionists are targeting, it is mainly the Shiaa countries. Bahrain is not a threat as long as the KSA backed minority sunnis are in control. Iraq is gone. Yemen is almost gone. And the only reason they are after Syria now is because they want to stop the supply route to Hezbullah. So it makes sense that the target of the dajjal's system has to be the truth.
Another reason i switched to Shiasm is because, I can compare today's corruption and lies, to history's and understand how it could have been the same way 1000 years ago.

I guess sunni leadership has always been corrupt. today's sunni leadership are drunken homosexual pedophiles. They usurped the muslim nation's money and use it fund a fitna. They even demolished the obelisk pillar which represents satan in the hajj and erected a meaningless wall to throw pebbles at.

now to the topic I wanted to talk about......

Can we pleaaaaaaaaase stop trying to convince the world "there is a God", "Islam is right", Shiasm is right, sunnis are wrong"
I am tired of these useless debates. There is absolutely no point! Please understand only God and that person can change his mind, and you are wasting you breath and energy.
If  a person is sincerely asking then we could help him understand. But if someone is arguing, then he has no sincerity in understanding and is there just to fight you.

As a person who recently and late in life has become religious, when I go online to learn more about Islam, almost every Sheikh I listen to talks about why Islam is right, or proofs that there is a God.
I already believe in God, so all this convincing is pointless information for me. what I would like to learn is more about Islamic law for example, or how to battle anger and impatience. How to act in a society.
I listen to Sheikh Ammar Nakshawani and other Sheikhs and I respect them to the upmost, but even they spend the majority of their lectures just trying to prove or convince us that Shiasm is the truth.
As a person who already agrees 100% with that belief... Too much time in lectures are given to these topics and I am not learning anything.

We need to stop trying to convince everyone and just start trying to learn how to be better muslims :)

Thank you.

Step one - identify haq

Step two - get to know the haq

Step three - begin to struggle in the way of haq

Seems like you are satisfied that you have achieved step one. Time to move on to next level. Study Quran, lives of Mohammad wa AalayMohammad, i.e. includes huge collection of hadiths and words of wisdom.

Yes, I agree with that too - also 100%

well those speakers have larger audience than people at this level of Iman bro; specially in the west.

some people (most west living shias) need such apologetic attitude in order to identify themselves as a minority(shia) within a minority(muslim)

which such basira, you should start your own journey.

We need to stop trying to convince everyone and just start trying to learn how to be better muslims :)

First is coming under " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar " and it is wajib if someone is doing wrong in front of you. So if someone doing wrong its a duty of believer to tell the right thing, whether result will come or not .. always do Amr Bil Ma'aroof nahi anil munkar

Why this problem comes in our society due to people left " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar "  my big brother was doing many things wrong and my father was not objecting on that issues later i found my brother is almost lost from deen. When i came to an age where my words was getting response in family i started Tableegh inside family and started promoting Haq and start telling them how to fight with Nafs. Now Alhamdolillah many things are coming back on track.

So please promote " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar " in society in every family in every place. Don't get afraid they will stone you or kill you. Its a reward if someone got killed doing " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar ". Actual mission of imam hussain is " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar "

Islam is right is part of " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar "

Second this point i agree we have to became identical twin like our Imams or atleast like our Marja. I know 80% people in Ahle Tashio is saying one Dailouge " He is imam and we are normal human " but give little stress why Imam came on earth ? what is the use of his teaching ? He want everyone to be like him. So if our acts will become " Mojaaza " then we need not to convince anyone , people themself will get convinced.

There are few miracles by Imam Khomeini you can read in history , one of the biggest Miracle is Revolution of Iran. He was not doing Miracle to convince someone but to re-establish " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar " .. This small setence " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar " itself is having miracle in it.

But " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar " is for those who have done this on themself first.

We have to respond our Imam and Insha Allah things will change .. just do this with you and your family " Amr bil ma'aroof nahi anil munkar "

I think we should not over burden ourselves with trying to guide other people, if they are good people and they possess an ability to think logically then they can guide themselves.

We don't argue with ignorant people, because there is no point and the ignorant person might take the argument in a bad way.

If someone is blatantly wrong and is ignorant then say something to them which will confuse them and make them rethink their beliefs, otherwise if you argue then it could end badly.

I don't know the proper reference for the hadith but I think the prophet said that we should only say Salam to the ignorant.

"Teach others your knowledge & learn the knowledge of others so you will bring your knowledge to perfection & learn something which you do not know." - Imam Hassan (as)

- These debates are not useless, these debates make you question your own beliefs and then you either come out of them with answers or with doubts. Either your faith is strengthened or weakened. It's a way to put your own beliefs at test.

- For most people God and religion are just words on their tongue which have nothing to do with their hearts and minds. As Imam Hussain (as) has said: "Verily people are the slaves of this world and their religion is superficial, only on their tongues."

Therefore, time and again scholars present proof of God and truth of religion so that such superficial religion may turn into firm belief. Also since atheism and godlessness is the popular religion these days, particularly among the youngsters, it is jihad of pen to address these issues and raise our voice to educate the youngsters.

As for shia vs sunni debates, though they have their importance but I would agree with you that these subjects are sometimes given all the attention while ignoring other important and practical issues. That is true and needs to change.

maybe you are right, but I have no doubt in my heart about my religion. So I guess it is relative to the person. There are so many atheists out there, and i don't think debates are what is going to bring them to Islam. I think we have to make a positive role model for them to question.

Mubahila ....

Rasool Allah (saw) played positive role model for 40 years, then announced him as Prophet of Allah.

After announced himself as Prophet of Allah, what happen ?

Someone said do some miracle so that we can believe you a prophet. Fine, for demonstrating some miracle was required. Moon got splitted .. what happen do all become Muslim ?

What was the requirement of Mubahila ?

No body is objecting to Play role Model , but don't stop Debates and Speeches. People if want debate let them welcome, Whether they accept your examples or not .. at least those who are participating in debate will get more confidence , Become more versatile and learn more.

Either you are fed up with debates with people around you , but not all are fed up. Tableegh is Islamic, but person of Tableegh must be as per Islam .. Not like Taliban.

That must be our foremost priority to present ourselves as ideal followers of Islam but you see a lot of atheists target Islam, their arguments are directed towards us or religions in general - if you will see top science documentaries today you'll find that their undercover message is one that there is no God or Creator, and then you have everyday news to embarrass Islam through the works of taliban or ISIS... given all of this I believe that those who have the capability to defend theism and Islam must do so on whatever platform they can.

There is a difference between tebleegh and debating

Debate itself is Tableegh. " Peshawar Nights " was debate same time it was tableegh, after debate many changed there school of thoughts.
