Is This Stealing?

Salams to all,

I'd like people opinions on whether this scenario constitutes stealing and also if there is a way of determining if it is stealing according to Islamic understanding:

A person goes to a supermarket in order to purchase an item to give to a charity. They have a budget and see they can afford 2 of the items to give to the charity. They go to a self service checkout and when they scan the items through, the items register as a few £ less than the sticker on them says. They realise that at this cheaper price they can buy another item to give to the charity, so they go and get another which scans at the lower price also.

Does their neglect of checking about the price with a member of staff constitute stealing, even though they paid for it legitimately?

If the machine is counting the correct price then no if it is not then yes.

But here it is obvious to check with staff, risky business, if it counts the wrong price and you allow it then you are stealing because you are neglecting it.

Think of it this way, if the machine was a person and that person made a mistake and you knew but you kept quite, this would be stealing, so same rule with machines because the machine performs the same role as a cashier.

I don't think it matters if charity is involved, We are only allowed to use Halal money for Halal purposes, Haram money used for Halal purposes does not justify obtaining the Haram money through Haram means.
