Is Our Destiny Only In God's Hand?

Salam everyone,

I have a question regarding the destiny of ones life. I am sort of confused about life . I don't understand if God controls things and if he does,how much does he control them. It confuses me because sometimes I feel like when I try to change things in my life , theres no result , even though i keep trying and hoping for a change. I surely don't try to change things that are unchangeable . So it lefts me with dispair , so i start asking myself if it's Gods willing, and if it is .. Is it for the best? Do i have to stop trying because maybe when God will want something to happen to me it will happen ? I'm just very confused. Hope I was clear with my questionning!

Life is a mixture of Destiny and Freewill. You are in control of making certain choices in your life i.e. what you want to study/where you want to live etc. Choices such as which family you are born into is destiny.

 

Sometimes things are out of our control and that means we have to bear the situation with patience. Perhaps there is something better waiting for us. We may like certain things that are not good for us and dislike certain things that are good for us:

But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.

 

The main thing to take from that verse is that Allah knows, and in his infinite knowledge He has blessed us all in equal ways. Therefore sometimes we mistake something for a weakness, whereas the only thing we have to do is accept it. Move on and then turn it into a strength. Also that there will always be something better in store for us all inshaAllah. In need of your Du'as. I hope things work out for you

Yes i understand that the choices you make are not into Gods hands because of freewill of course but i meant that if you try to change a state you are in and not being able too after many times .. Does it mean that God doesnt want it to happen so I just need to stop forcing it ??

Go drink a cup of water and then decide and drink 2 cups instead, see your choice and you did change something in your life.

God has given us an intellect which helps us discern between good and bad. With our intellect we can know whether what we are striving for (what we want to change in our lives) is for a spiritual end or a worldly end. If what we are striving for is for a spiritual end then don't give up and continue to working towards it until you die (regardless of whether or not you will be successful). If your striving is for a worldly reason then don't work towards it unless it is essential or needful (for surviving, for nourishing and shtering you and your family etc).

I dont really agree with this. We are put in this world for 3ibada of course but i dont think that we can't try to accomplish things in our life that can make our life here on earth worth living (without doing haram of course, and without letting it affect your iman) . God will reward us for trying to make our life a great one as for example when we go to school and educate ourselves its not something spiritual by itself but God want us to develop our intelect to become a better person! Also imam ali said : Work for this life as though you are going to live forever --- Work for the Next life as though you will die tomorrow.
