Is it not haram to sleep in a mosque?

I was praying in my unis prayer room, which is Sunni run and there were people taking turns sleeping and snoring on pillows.

I thought sleeping was haram in a mosque and I told the guy sleeping but he doubted me.

Is sleeping in a mosque not haram? because you can have a wet dream when asleep or fart, so if in a mosque...

It is also a place of worship.

Meaning prayer room is not the same as mosque......mosque is not a mosque until you declare it as such.

What? I feel like my mind just landed on mars, I thought prayer rooms were in mosques and mosques are the prayer place.

Ok so it might not be a mosque, still, a payer room, are we allowed to sleep in it?

I feel discriminated against, as a shia I could not find any turbahs there, they don't have it, so I just prayed on a tissue because the carpet smells of socks.

It is not clean washing the whole feet, the smell of feet gets on to the carpet because they have wet feet touching the carpet.

go to the market or cloth stall, or ask mummy, get a piece of cloth, 1m x 50cm, put it in your bag as a prayer mate. Easily washable, just know which side is up and down.

Cloth cannot be used as a turbah

You could buy a bamboo beach mat and pray on that though. And most sunnis are not going to assume there is a shia around because they are the minority. You should have your own turbah or mat ready to use, you could even use a leaf as a turbah so why are you expecting sunnis to bring you one? lol. And you dont have to pray in the prayer room, at my uni, all the muslims pray everywhere, in any building in any room or hallway or even outside. Not a big deal unless muslims are severely discriminated against at your uni.

Can someone please clear this out, if I am allowed to sleep in that prayer room then I will be moving my pillow there, perfect place for some mid day nap.

(bismillah)

In University. I talked to one of the owners of the prayer room there, and I asked whether it was a Mosque or a simple room for praying. He said, that it was only a prayer room, built for the Muslim community of the University. In fact, they called it the "Spiritual centre". Therefore, it is not Makrooh to sleep in it. As it is not a Mosque to begin with. You would be surprised, a prayer room, with a kitchen, pillows, and food.
