Salaam Alaykum,

I follow Ayatoallah Sistani.

I recently quit a job at Mcdonalds, in which i was preparing/cooking unhalaal food such as hamburgers in the kitchen.
Is the money i earned from this job not Halaal?
And if so, what shall i do with the money?

Thank you very much in advance.

Perhaps it is halal but it is a terrible place to work, they work you like a dog and pay minimum wage while raking in billions in profits, I quit after a few weeks.

I've quit now though and yeah it is really hard work :P

Wsalam,

Contact the sayid on the najaf.org site, they reply fast. Am not sure what you need to do. Most people keep the money these days, life is only getting tougher...

Thank you, i will do that!

This is the reply i received from Najaf.org, however when i asked i specified that i did not directly hand/sell the food to the customers.

"In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Nothing is on you

Wassalamu Alaykum"

I presume this to mean i have no accountability and that i can spend the money earned.

When it comes to "meat" there are two kinds of impurity:

1.Intrinsic impurity which means that the impurity is part of the nature of a meat like "pork"

2.extrinsic impurity which means that the impurity comes from outside like the time when a Halal animal like sheep has not been slaughtered according to Islamic rules.

Now I quote the rules from Ayatollah Sistani's website:

A Muslim is allowed to serve meat of an animal that was not slaughtered according to Islamic laws to those who consider it lawful like Christians, Jews, and others.

Similarly, it is permissible for him to work in preparing and cooking that meat. The money that he receives in return for that work can be legitimized by the rule of tanãzul (withdrawing your exclusive right from that meat).

It is not permissible for a Muslim to sell pork to those who believe it is lawful for them among the Christians and others. Based on obligatory precaution, one should not even serve that meat to them.

And the money one receives in return for an unlawful act is illegitimate.
