Who Is Momin?

To be a momin you need to believe in Allah, not only declare you are a believer but to accept and acknowledge it by your heart;

admit the fact that everything is a sign of Allah and everything belongs to Allah.

To be a real momin, you don't need to tell others.

Allah himself would examine you to verify your Iman.

No the shia are not the momin, in fact far from it. The following are some qualities of a momin...



The person can loose their house, kids, family money and still say Thank You Allah.

The person never thinks anything belongs to him, and therefore will never argue call bad names backbite ect...

The person will always read namaz on time, never eat to the full (no pop-belly).

The person will always have other Muslims needs in his view.

The person will take account of what has been earn t, or lost for the after life, at the end of every day.

The person will only love for Allah (love those who Allah loves)  and hate who Allah hates.

We don't deserve to call ourselves Shias. We are simply Lovers of Ahlul bayt. Momin and shia are almost the same thing, maybe a the title shia is better then the title momin.

ـ الإمامُ الحسنُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ في جَوابِ رَجُلٍ قالَ لَهُ: إنّي مِن شِيعَتِكُم ـ: يا عبدَ اللّه‏ِ ، إن كُنتَ لَنا في أوامِرِنا وزَواجِرِنا مُطِيعاً فقد صَدَقتَ ، وإن كُنتَ بخِلافِ ذلكَ فلا تَزِدْ في ذُنوبِكَ بدَعواكَ مَرتَبةً شَرِيفَةً لَستَ مِن أهلِها ، لا تَقُلْ: أنا مِن شِيعَتِكُم ، ولكن قُل: أنا مِن مُوالِيكُم ومُحِبِّيكُم ومُعادِي أعدائكُم، وأنتَ في خَيرٍ وإلى خَيرٍ.

Imam al-Hasan (AS) said in answer to a man who said to him, ‘Verily I am one of your Shi`aa’, ‘O `Aabdallah, if you are truly obedient to us in our commands and prohibitions, then you are telling the truth. But if not, then do not add to your sins by falsely claiming such a dignified position that you are not worthy of. Do not say, ‘I am one of your Shi`aa’, but say rather, ‘I am one of your adherents and one of your lovers and an enemy to your enemies.’ You are [doing] good and aiming towards good.’[Tanbih al-Khawatir, v. 2, p. 106]

ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ لِنَوفٍ البَكاليِّ ـ: أتَدرِي يا نَوفُ مَن شِيعَتي ؟ قالَ: لا وَاللّه‏ِ ، قالَ: شِيعَتي الذُّبُلُ الشِّفاهِ، الخُمصُ البُطُونِ ، الذينَ تُعرَفُ الرَّهبانيَّةُ في وُجوهِهِم ، رُهبانٌ باللَّيلِ اُسْدٌ بالنَّهارِ.

Imam Ali (AS) asked Nawf al-Bakali, ‘Do you know who my Shi`aa are, Nawf?’ to which he replied, ‘By Allah, no.’ Imam replied, ‘My Shi`aa have parched lips and empty stomachs. They are those whose faces disclose asceticism, for they are ascetics by night, lions by day.’[bihar al-Anwar, v. 78, p. 28, no. 95]

ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): لَيسَ مِن شِيعَتِنا مَن قالَ بِلِسانِهِ وخالَفَنا في أعمالِنا وآثارِنا .

Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘One who claims to follow us with his tongue, but does the opposite to our actions and deeds is not from among our Shi`aa.’[bihar al-Anwar, v. 68, p. 164, no. 13]

ـ عن محمّدِ بنِ عجلان: كنتُ عِند أبي عَبدِ اللّه‏ِ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) فَدخلَ رَجَلٌ فَسَلَّمَ، فَسألَهُ: كيفَ مَن خُلّفْتَ مِن إخوانِكَ؟ قالَ: فأحسنَ الثناءَ وزكّى وأطرى . قالَ لهُ: كيفَ عِيادَةُ أغنِيائهِم على فُقَرائهِم ؟

Imam al-Sadiq (AS) once asked a man about his tribe and brothers whom he had left back home, which the latter replied by praising them, attesting to their integrity and extolling them. Then Imam (AS) asked, ‘Do the rich among them visit the poor when they are ill?’ He replied, ‘Not much.’ ‘Do the rich frequent the poor at all?’ asked Imam. The man replied, ‘Not much.’ ‘Then, do the rich maintain relations with the leaders from amongst the poor?’ The man replied, ‘Verily you are listing virtues that people amongst us rarely possess.’ Imam said, ‘Then how can these people claim to be Shi`aa?!’ [al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 173, no. 10]

ـ قد سَألَ رسولَ اللّه‏ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ) ابنُ عبّاسٍ عن قولِ اللّه‏ِ عَزَّوجلَّ: «والسّابِقُونَ السابِقُونَ * أُولئكَ المُقَرَّبُونَ» ـ فقال: قالَ لي جَبرَئيلُ: ذاكَ عَلِيٌّ وشِيعَتُهُ ، هُمُ السابِقونَ إلَى الجَنَّةِ المُقَرَّبُونَ مِنَ اللّه‏ِ بكَرامَتِهِ لَهُم .

The Prophet Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÂáå was asked by Ibn `Aabbas about the verse of Allah in the Qur’an, “And the Foremost Ones are the foremost ones: they are the ones brought near to Allah” [Qur’an 56:10,11], to which he replied, ‘This refers to Ali and his Shi`aa - they will be the foremost to enter Paradise, the ones brought near to Allah through His Magnanimity over them.’[Amali al-Tusi, p. 72, no. 104]

On a certain evening ‘Ali (a.s.) was departing from the mosque. The surroundings were bright due to the moonlight. He saw behind him a group of people walking towards him. He enquired as to who they were? They said: “We are your Shias.” ‘Ali (a.s.) looked at their faces carefully and said.

“Why is it that your faces do not exhibit any sign of you being a Shia?”.

“Master, what are the signs of a Shia?”

“Their faces are pale due to excessive worship and the fear of Allah, their backs are bent due to prolonged prayers, too much fasting causes their abdomen to touch their backbones, their lips become dry be repeating endless invocations, and their hearts are filled with the fear of Allah.”

(Bihār al-Anwār, Al-Irshad)

The Imam has said that: “Our true Shia have two different states within themselves. If one of our Shia is busy in the night in the worship of Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì and someone sees them, then that person would think that this worshipper has entirely cut himself off from the world and is an ascetic, since he does not take part in the activities of this world. On the other hand, when anyone sees them in the daytime, they would say that he is like a lion in his behavior and is always present in the daily activities of the society, keeping active.”

Imam Muhammad Baqir [a] told Jabir: "Is it enough for a person to (merely) embellish (oneself) as a Shi'ah (follower) by professing love of us, Ahlul-Bayt? Nay! By Allah, a person is not our follower except the one who fears Allah and obeys Him. O' Jabir! Our followers are not recognized save by humility; submission; honesty; praising Allah abundantly; fasting and prayers; filial devotion; attending to the poor, needy, debtors, and orphans who live near him; saying the truth; reciting the Qur'an; withholding the tongue from people except for benediction; and being trustworthy for relatives in any affairs..."

As for momin

Once while Moula Ali (as) was delivering a speech, a very pious and knowledgeable man

said. “O’Ameerul Momineen (as)! Describe the attributes of a momin in such a way we

can see it before our eyes.” Moula Ali (as) said, “O’Hamam! A momin is one who is wise

and of great intellect. His face shines with the light of iman (faith). He has a very kind

heart. He never follows his desires. Worldly matters have absolutely no value to him. He

is selfish only regarding doing good deeds. He is neither jealous nor envious of others.

He never puts himself in any dispute. He does not backbite. He never tells a lie. His

whole life will be filled with sufferings and hardships. He never compromises his

commitments. Mostly he remains silent. He has great respect for others. He never

exposes his anger. He is always busy in the remembrance of Allah. He is always patient.

When he remembers the day of judgement, sadness comes in his heart.

Signs of a (true) believer are five: Praying of 51 Rik'as (Naiflas), Arbaeen visit to Imam Hussein, Wearing the ring in the right hand, Sign of prostration in the forehead, and saying Bismillah loud (even in Salah Dhuhr and Asr)

What does it need to be a Momin? What do we do in our daily life to prove ourselves? What must be our beliefs? Are you wise enough?



Dear brother,

in Surah Mo'minin you can find some characteristics of Mo'mini:


الَّذينَ هُمْ في‏ صَلاتِهِمْ خاشِعُونَ (2

those who are humble in their prayers

وَ الَّذينَ هُمْ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ (3

who avoid vain talk

وَ الَّذينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكاةِ فاعِلُونَ (4

who carry out their[duty of] zakat

وَ الَّذينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حافِظُونَ (5

who guard their private parts

إِلاَّ عَلى‏ أَزْواجِهِمْ أَوْ ما مَلَكَتْ أَيْمانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومينَ (6

except from their spouses or their slave women, for then they are not blameworthy;

فَمَنِ ابْتَغى‏ وَراءَ ذلِكَ فَأُولئِكَ هُمُ العادُونَ (7

but whoever seeks] anything [beyond that it is they who are transgressors

وَ الَّذينَ هُمْ لِأَماناتِهِمْ وَ عَهْدِهِمْ راعُونَ (8

and those who keep their trusts and covenants,

وَ الَّذينَ هُمْ عَلى‏ صَلَواتِهِمْ يُحافِظُونَ (9

and who are watchful of their prayers
