UK Guardian reports this from Reuters:

Speaking on live television, Rouhani said many people had signed up to go to Iraq to defend the sites and "put the terrorists in their place".

He added that veteran fighters from Iraq's Sunni, Shia and Kurdish communities were also "ready for sacrifice" against these militant forces.

"Regarding the holy Shia shines in Karbala, Najaf, Khadhimiya and Samarra, we announce to the killers and terrorists that the big Iranian nation will not hesitate to protect holy shrines," he said, speaking to a crowd on a visit to western Lorestan province.

"These terrorist groups, and those that fund them, both in the region and in the international arena, are nothing, and hopefully they will be put in their own place."

Rouhani said on Saturday Iran had never dispatched any forces to Iraq and it was very unlikely it ever would. Western diplomats suspect Iran has in the past sent some of its Revolutionary Guards, a hardline force that works in parallel with the army, to advise the Iraqi army or its militia allies.

And when Saul went forth with the soldiers, he said, "Indeed, Allah will be testing you with a river. So whoever drinks from it is not of me, and whoever does not taste it is indeed of me, excepting one who takes [from it] in the hollow of his hand." But they drank from it, except a [very] few of them. Then when he had crossed it along with those who believed with him, they said, "There is no power for us today against Goliath and his soldiers." But those who were certain that they would meet Allah said, "How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah . And Allah is with the patient."
And when they went forth to [face] Goliath and his soldiers, they said, "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people."

Meanwhile, Sunni militants attacked the army bases outside the town of Saqlawiyah, just north of the militant-seized city of Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, and fought fierce clashes during the day, a provincial police source said without giving details about casualties.

Alhamdulliah. Baghdad is still standing.

Salams,

If you guys might recall, during the 2006 war, intially there were conflicting reports. Infact, initially Israel made massive gain, until t slowly but surely the resistance caught up and drove them out and gave them a loss  that they still regret. It's good to be update with the findings, but we need to have firm belief (myself included), that provided people are sincerely fighting for the sake of Allah (SWT) the final victory will be the with believers.

Salman
