Whenever I sit down to study/revise, I always feel sleepy within 10 minutes!
This has been going on for some time now, it's never happened to me before. Even if I am well rested, I will still feel this way. It's not anything to do with any of the subjects I take, I quite enjoy the subjects, I just always feel sleepy.

What should I do to get rid of this? Is there any dua's/surah's that I can read that can help?

Salaam,

Start studying with Bismillah

Say "Rabbi zidni ilman" to improve memory

For sleep try following

Read in very illuminated place

Avoid comfy chairs or bed

Avoid seclusion, learn to focus amidst disturbance

Take quick short breaks every fifteen minutes. Walk around, Return in two minutes.

Eat less, eat light, avoid rice, eat things that digest easily

Avoid sweets

Pray :)

Dont sit on a sofa or a mattress while studying. Use a chewing gum, it helps u keep awake & mentally active. Drink plenty of water. U can also take power naps in between ur studies. Coffee or Tea could be useful. Too much silence in the room can also make u sleepy so i hope u can figure it out how to deal with it.

Here are some tips for taking a power nap during studies.

Lol I think we've all had that at some point. What really helps me is a change of environment or routine. For example when revising in my room I get very sleepy, so I change my position, or go to the living room, or kitchen or somewhere random to revise there.

I also like to go to the library randomly as again that change in environment helps, plus it's a lot more difficult to fall asleep in a place where you have to be vigilant over your belongings and where everyone else is revising. (Whatever you do though, try not to socialise too much as that happens a lot in libraries). In this way you can also take refreshing walks or breaks outside, before going back to studying. Eating bananas and drinking orange juice and avoiding heavy meals also helps.

I also change my revision methods, for example instead of using only the computer, I would use a3 paper with different colours etc to create summaries, diagrams and mindmaps to keep me alert.

Not sure if these methods will help, but they seem to work for me. Inshallah soon you find the best way to revise for you, and good luck with your studies :)

Sit in a slightly uncomfortable chair, sahirzadi. When I did school, this is what they told us. It worked for me.

So a wood chair at a desk was what I had.

its all about the temperature. if u feel warm, ur more likely to feel sleepy. just think about the last time u felt tired driving...what did u do? more than likely, u opened the window and the fresh air helped to keep u bright and alert. so study with ur bedroom window slightly open to allow a gentle cool breeze to drift it. take short, sharp breaks in between studying and change ur position because that can cause fatigue. after an hour of study, take a 5 min stroll in ur garden/street and then get back to studying. make sure u have cold water on flow to keep u alert. u can also try switching the topic ur studying if u find urself flagging.
