Can someone explain why certain seven ayat from the Qur'an are called "The seven haykals" and when and what for should they be read?

(salam) sister,

thank you for the prompt reply.

It would mean that when I am to go somewhere or to see someone I am afraid of, I should recite these ayat and blow my breath as required, and I shall be protected. Is that correct?

I would like to know which infallible  (as) is this reported from?

(I happen to read these seven ayat from time to time, but I never found the explanation or a hadeeth about it, so I'd like to know more about them.)

That's right. Surat al Falaq and Surat al Nas are also highly recommended.

As for narrations, I haven't come across any myself. At least not from shia sources.

The du'aa of Seven Haykals is not narrated in our authentic Hadith collections, thus it is not authentic.

That is interesting, as I have found those Seven haykals in a shia book, and it is listed among duas in the Shia site Duas.org, so it must be accepted by many as authentic.

(It does not mean, of course, that we should not read those ayat except as Seven haykals, as ALL Quranic ayat are beneficial and should be read.)

As far as I searched, it has only been narrated in the book "al- Misbaah" by "al- Kaf'ami" and the chain of narrators has not been mentioned in this book, therefore most of the Ulamaa do not consider it to be authentic.
