The quran is full of verses regarding making people into imams. It doesnt specifically say they were prophets but there is a chance. As the examples in the Quran are not the only ones. We may not know their names, but we shias do believe there were imams prior to the 12. Its part of the perfect system of Allah. There always must be leaders/guides/protectors of Allah's message whether it was la illaha illalah Isa Rasulullah, Ibrahim Rasullah, Musa rasullah, or Muhammadan Rasullah.

On the level of the āhir (exoteric), there is none save the Imāms of the Ahl al-Bayt (ع). However, on the level of the bāṭin (esoteric) there has always been an Imām among Creation. That is, there has always been a ujja (proof) of Allāh, manifesting all that can be known of Allāh. So, Imāmate is fundamentally an issue of ontology, which is why it and prophethood can be embodied in the same being [as was historically the case]. Understood in this context, the designation of Imām is not limited to Ibrāhīm (ع) [but rather inclusive of other prophets as well].

Was Hazrat Ibrahim(As) the only Imam among the prophets (pbut) besides Prophet Muhammad (S)?

Salamun alaykum. Based on the following narration, there were at least 5 Prophets who were Imams as well:

"Imam Sadiq (as) says: Prophets were of 4 categories: ... The forth category belongs to those Prophets who were able to see the angel of revelation in their dream, hear his voice and see him while awake. These Prophets were Imams as well like those possessors of determination ('Ulu al-'Azm)..." (Al-Kafi, vol. 1 pp. 174-5).

Based on this narration, 'Ulu al-Azm Prophets were Imam. Now there are different views as who 'Ulu al-Azm Prophets are. However, based on the most famous view, they include Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Prophet Muhammad.

alamun alaykum

First we should know who is Imam and what is his role it the world?

Imam is the linking connection between Allah and the world and Imāmat is the intermediate stage between divinity and the world.

Imam Sadiq: we are the reason between you and God

And in the prayer of Nudba we say:

Where is the connected reason between (people in) the world and the sky.

So by means of Imams human being are created and by means of Imam we worship God and by their indirect will we chose good or bad.

Now we can answer the main question:

Having an existential role in creation and the intermediate stage between God and world, the presence of Imam is needed each time for creation. So we have many Imams in all over the centuries and generations but one specific for each time and the Imam of our time is Imam Mahdi (as).

On the other hand we just know some Imams of prophets like Ulo al Azm but we don’t know most Imams over the creation.

This issue has a long great discussion in Islamic theology, mysticism and also philosophy. For the further information you can refer to Almizan, the commentary book of Quran by Allame Tabatabaei, under the verse: 2/124

Narrated to us Al-Sanady Bin Muhammad, from Yunus Bin Yaqoub, from Abdul Aala who said;

Abu Abdullah Imam Sadiq (as) said: "No Prophet (as) has ever been a Prophet (as) at all except by recognizing Our rights, and by preferring Us over every one other than us."

No, not to my knowledge. Anything that might resemble criticism towards them in the closest sense is that Imam al Sadiq (a.s.) praised his Shias saying that they were better, more obedient towards the imam than the disciples were towards Isa (a.s).

Abu ‘Abd Allah (‘a) said, “Verily the disciples of Jesus (‘a) were his followers, and our followers are our disciples. The disciples of Jesus were not more obedient than our disciples are to us. Jesus (‘a) said to the disciples, ‘Who are my helpers for Allah?’ The disciples said, ‘We will be the helpers of Allah.’([30]) By Allah, they did not help him from the Jews and they did not fight with them for him, but our followers, by Allah, always have helped us since Allah, may His remembrance be magnified, took [the soul of] the Apostle of Allah, and they have fought for us, have been burned and tormented and frightened away in the cities. May Allah give them the best reward for us.”

Were there Imams like the Imams Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã are to us in the past?

Did all prophets (s) have 12 successors(s)?

Yes.

Not 12 in all cases but every prophet has a successor. Some of these successors were prophets, some were saints. An example is Aasif bin Barkhyyia who was the successor of prophet Suliman. Suliman was the successor of prophet Dawwood.

After our prophet, there is no prophet that will appear in future. We have only successors before the End of the injustice by the hands of the rightful inheritors of prophets.  We were not given a time span upon which we can predict when this End of time hour will come, instead we were told that after our prophet there will be 12 princes/leaders/caliphs/ whom their leadership rule prominence will not be harmed by the role of people in either supporting them or ignoring them. (Some object on the hadith of the 12 that they were not political leaders but the other hadiths actually state that this objection is missing the point and the proper definition of divine imamat or khilafah).

The correct understanding is in "universal Imamah"

The reality of Ahmad is the reality of all Prophets. They are one in the same, They are a mechanism in which Allah communicates to humanity, their will is His will and their actions are His actions. They are a means, a tool. And the highest creation, looking at them is worship and dhikr of them is worship, they own our souls. They are the manifestation of Allah.

Unfortunatley modern scholars hide these facts by using taqiyyah to there followers...

May Allah curse those who conceal the truth...
