(salam)

Nice Article.

Ayat. Khomenei's governmental precept viliyat-i-faqih is not accepted by many in Qom. The article's line about the Quran being used for "corroboration" is probably the best explicatory description I've read.

Personally, I am similar to Ayat. Khomenei in that only morally qualified people be in the gov't. And as exemplified by the prophets (as)  should be a minimum of forty years-of-age for national offices.

The arguments about sharia or "not sharia" to me are about idiotic. If you have Quran and sahih hadith, then the only thing remaining is siyasa --and this is where most --well, about everyone-- will disagree. For an Islamic state in the 21st Century CC/15thCentury A.H. it must not waste its time with the two bad ideas of the 20th Century: socialism and inflation.

The local discussions should be about what is better with state ownership; and that cheapening money somehow makes people richer and old retirees more secure are obviously untrue.

Modern Islamic state political parties need to concentrate on their views on siyasa. I would also ban any party that "speaks" for the din/religion because no one has a monopoly on the Quran or ayhl-bait.

As a short response I hope I have made my points.
