Hmm , which is the best tea for staying up and taste?

Chai is good for staying up (its black tea with milk and sugar and sometimes cardamom)

But I prefer mint tea to wake me up in the morning; it is the best and makes you feel fresh :Allhumdulilah. ^.^

NOW HEAR THIS!!

I want to write here that since a couple of days I am now trying to quit tea as my research has indicated that the chemical "caffeine" in tea and coffee and soft drinks can be anywhere from unnecessary to dangerous to our health.

Therefore I wish to retract my posts about the favor and likeness of teas containing caffeine, except green tea, which contains very tiny amounts of it.

Being your brother and well wisher I advise all people to be cautious when taking any caffeinated beverages and invite you to google this matter for your own health concern and that of your loved ones.

Sorry for the interruption.

AS YOU WERE!!

Herbal tea do not have caffeine :) try dandelion, mint, chamomile, saffron, cinnamon, or other herbal teas. You can even make tea from pine tree leaves! Check out the tea isle at the grocery store and try to buy fair trade and organic brands.

Salam Ruffles and thanks. Yes, indeed, green tea and those others have negligible amounts of caffeine if any. I feel sorry for spoiling Ruq's thread (I hope its not one of those feel good ones, good sister) and I also love tea myself but the prime reason for my last post was that checking my caffeine intake has seemingly cured my anxiety disorder. I still drink a cup of black tea once every other day or so but having the awareness of its hazard when taken in excess and cutting back sternly (tea and fizzy drinks) has apparently solved my huge, afore mentioned health problem.

That said, I still enjoy green tea (Peshawari Kahva) every evening. It has negligible amounts of caffeine.

Has anyone made tea ice lollies? now the weather has warmed up im gonna give them a try. I plan on using this simple recipe first: http://leitesculinaria.com/86846/recipes-iced-tea-pops.html and then maybe experiment with something more exotic cow-hula.gif

S'ok Darth, yes its surprising what a little caffeine can do. I periodically have issues with insomnia and at those times i totally cut out caffeine. Are you on a low sugar diet also? if you have tension i would recommend cutting down as much as poss on all added sugars and refined carbs.

Salamun 'Alaykum,

Lapsang Souchong is my personal favorite so far as "genuine" teas go, but it's a bit on the pricey side...

I also have a weakness for a good Sencha/Matcha combo, but only traditionally blended...

Herbal and medicinal tea blends are a whole 'nother ball game, and I'd rather not incriminate myself by revealing too much of what I know about those...

Peace and blessings to all on this fine day!

Just a note to say that tea ice lolly test went very well. I put slightly more tea than it said (and it was strong tea) and 2 tbsp agave nectar, which was sweet enough for me. It wasnt bitter and there was a nice balance between the flavours.

I am fond of tea whether it is black, green or white tea. Black tea is the best if you want to make some iced or cold tea. Green tea is the best if you want to lose weight. it can help you to have a good digestion and metabolism. I really love tea whether it’s hot, cold or iced this is my all-time favorite.

If they made perfume that smells like black tea, I would wear it just to be able to smell it all the time.

But lately I drink mostly herbal tea, peppermint or lemon ginger. With honey is fine, or plain.

I love drinking tea every day whether it is iced, hot or cold. Green tea is my favorite because it helps me to have a good digestion and helps me lose weight also. Green tea is also good for our skin because it has anti oxidants. I like to drink caffeine free green tea rather than regular tea. I also like to add some mint leaves and lemon to my tea to add some taste.

Good news for Earl Grey drinkers - the bergamot in Earl Grey has been linked to the control of cholesterol according to this article i saw today: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2593086/Earl-Grey-brew-tackle-heart-disease-Scientists-bergamot-tea-effective-statins-controlling-cholesterol.html

This is really interesting news about Earl Grey tea helping lower cholesterol. Thanks, Ruq!

This is a drink that I make almost every day. I make 1 cup of hot tea in a large mug by using 3 teabags: Earl Grey, green tea and another one called Vanilla Chai which is a black tea with spices. Wait four minutes for the tea to steep and then remove the teabags. Pour the tea in a 24 ounce travel cup, add sweetener of choice, water and ice. Stir and enjoy. For those who don't like green tea, you won't even taste it. :)

^ You must add a flavoring that you like. sugar, honey, Stevia, syrup, etc. Some diabetics drink tea with dried mulberries instead of sugar. As you get used to the taste of the tea, you can decrease the sweetener until it is not as sweet as you used to take it.

If you feel social pressure to drink tea, AND you want to drink tea, just do it. You might get used to the taste and eventually enjoy it, and you might not, but drinking it is YOUR choice alone.

I like roiboos ice tea, specially in summer.High in anti-oxidants and also caffeine-free, this tea is not only refreshing but also a wonderfully healthy thirst quencher.

I take three roiboos unflavoured teabags, put them in a normal cup with boiled water to make a concentrate of it.Then wait ten minutes for the tea to steep. Then I put ice cubes in a pot and pour the tea over the ice cubes.Fill it up with water and then take a juice i like and add half a cup to the iced tea.I love it with orange juice or passion fruit juice. No need to add sugar.

I drink black ceylon tea with nabat safran or cinnamon for breakfast and lemonbalm tea during the day and evening...makes one sleepy a bit,i like that.

^ Thank you for the concentration tip. I read the box on my tea bags and it said steep for 4 minutes, so that is what I was doing. After you said steep for 10 minutes I looked at the box again and it says 4 minutes or whatever time you like. Now I'm steeping my tea bags 10 minutes to get extra flavor. :)

I hadnt realised my tea thread was doing so well post-73242-0-74182500-1342726119.jpg i see lots of great tips.

I am currently shlurping green tea with a 1/2 a teaspoon of honey. I didnt like green tea at all when i first tried it, but have found that some honey balances out the astringency a bit and now i quite enjoy my early evening cuppa. I always start the day with strong black tea with milk.

Flavored tea, like Peach Tea, is one of my favorites. I tried Peach Drink which is peach flavored water and I did not like it that much. It's the tea that I love in the Peach Tea.

What price are all of you paying for your tea? I use the individual tea bags and the boxes with 100 tea bags are less expensive than the boxes with 20 tea bags. Sometimes a small box would be 12 cents per tea bag, but a large box might be 4 cents per tea bag. Of course I am always looking for tea on sale. :)

There is a coffeemaker that has kcups and they also started making kcups with tea. Those coffee and tea kcups are 50 or 60 cents each, unless you can find them on sale. I like the convenience, but the expense is really too much for me. I recently went to a store that mostly sells clothing but they have some home items and snacks as well. I saw a metal tin box of Earl Gray tea bags (which is my absolute favorite tea) and was pleasantly surprised that the price was $2.99 for 40 tea bags. If I bought 40 Earl Gray kcups (which is impossible for me now) it might be $25. :o
