Here's a really, really very interesting TED talk bu James Flynn about historical development in cognitive ability over the past two centuries and how we are far more "intelligent" than our ancestors a hundred years ago:

Absolutely phenomenal! He does, however, make one or two uniformed remarks about Islam - possibly because of his ignorance on the subject - but, still, that's not the main subject of his talk and the rest is quite informative.

He was highly interesting until he spit some idiotic statements that have nothing to do with islam... To me he lost all his credibility. How can you be that ignorant yet speak with intellect? It baffles me...

Whats funny to me, he speaks about being ignorant of other cultures and how it is a problem o_O

That's called evolution. :P Although, I've always wondered how Einstein & Newton & other scientists were so intelligent & most of the people aren't; even though they passed away long ago, evolution hasn't been able to catch upto them?

This is not evolution. Evolution would take millions of years to bring about the tiniest of changes on such a scale. Changes in just a century can only be ascribed to social criteria/circumstances.

If the topic interests you, i would highly recommend reading the following book by Ayt. Sh. Murtadha Mutahhari:

He discusses the issue very well in this book and brings citations from the Qur'an and Hadith to back up his view.
