Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist group, says Saudi Arabia

Statement on Saudi TV also lists Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isis) as terrorist organisations

Saudi Arabia has formally designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group in an official report on Saudi television.

Citing a statement by the interior ministry, the report added that the Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isis) – whose fighters are battling the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad – were also classed as terror organisations.

The move on Friday appeared to enforce last month's royal decree in which Riyadh said it would jail any citizen guilty of fighting in conflicts overseas for up to 20 years. The authorities want to deter Saudis from joining rebels in Syria, fearing they could pose a security risk when they return.

Riyadh says the Brotherhood – whose Sunni doctrines challenge the Saudi principle of dynastic rule – has tried to build support inside the kingdom since the Arab spring uprisings across the Middle East and north Africa.

In Egypt, the Brotherhood, which won every election following the toppling of Hosni Mubarak in 2011, has been driven underground since the army deposed President Mohamed Morsi – a longtime member of the group, which also endured repression under the Mubarak regime.

The army-backed government in Cairo designated the Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation in December after accusing the group of carrying out a suicide bombing at a police station that killed 16 people. The Brotherhood condemned that attack and denies using violence.

Saudi Arabia's Islamic religious authorities have previously spoken out against Saudi fighters going to Syria. The interior ministry estimates that around 1,200 Saudis have gone there nonetheless.

If they challenge the Saudi rule, then I love the Muslim Brotherhood, whether Salafist or not.

They are worse than Saudi rule, they are worse than animals.... MB/Salafis came to power in Egypt, they left everyone alone but began to Takfir Shias and massacre 'a few Egyptian Shias' who lived peacefully for years just because Qatar and Saudis fed them a few million USD.

MB in Syria/Egypt/Jordan and elsewhere in the last 65 years did not have the courage to throw a single stone towards Israel (Except Hamas and Jihad and that because they came under the influence of Iran/Shias), but when it comes to Muslim counties suh as Syria, Iraq, Libya... and elsewhere they massacre thousands of Muslims every day. Other than that even Palestinian Islamists are killing more Muslims in other countries than to have any interest in fighting their main enemy Israel in their own motherland.

MB in Bahrain sided with Ahle Khalifa for sectarian reasons and rejected any rights or demands made by majority-Shias... the group praised the Zionist puppet and declared their support for the ruling family.

They were Saudis dogs till a few months ago... Sauids know that the game has changed and supporting Takfiris won't do them any good but harms for the long run....

I hope soon Iraq and Lebanon declare MB and some of the Salafi organizations as terrorist groups as well. They are responsible for almost daily bombings and killing civilians in these countries.

Another game Saudis trying to play like the spoiled bullies they are. Declaring these Saudi financed mercenary entities (ISIL etc) terrorist by the decree of a dying mafia head doesn't mean anything.

Pakistan declares all Taliban terrorist, but negotiates with them, feeds them, sleeps with them, use them, when it wants.

USA declares MKO terrorist but is their biggest backer in Iraq.

USA declares AlQaida terrorist but supports them, trains them, and pays their salaries in Syria.

France declares Al Shabab terrorist, but is the biggest military backer of them.

This seems more like putting a proverbial leash around the neck of their attack dogs in case they are forced to liquidate some of the over zealous of them who try to bite the hand feeding them, apparently a common trait among those fatherless Salafis.

MB's Salafis were punished because they forgot their place in Salafi hierarchy. Besides had they continue for another three years, Egypt would had a chance of retaliatory secular and nationalist democratic government. Now who wants that! From Shia point of view, it's been proven 100% of the time, a secular Sunni is 100x better than a religious Sunni, and a religious Shia is 100x better than a secular Shia.
