Asalam Alykum,

Perhaps. But its good to know what communities face. Additionally, its helping to stop a malpractice. I know Iraqis who spoke of similar issues. The guy has to be well educated, Sayed and Iraqi etc. Perhaps that issue is wider than the scoped communities. He mentioned it an Arab issue as well. The best way to communicate across to these nationalities is via English as its a common language and it perhaps can help us reflect on how our parents were and how we are :).

Ma'Salam.

Salam,

the difference is that some people in the indo-pak community actually believe it to be haram for a sayyed to marry a non-syed and this is publically encouraged, whereas in the arabs' case they may prefer a syed but they dont actually think it's haram.

depends on the Arabs. It differs from family to family. Most of the ones I know believe that sayeds can only marry sayeds

Should be done by an Urdu speaker then.

No, there are a lot of Shias who were born outside the confines of their ancestral home and can barely understand the native language of their forefathers.

The speech in the video was made in an English speaking country and it makes a lot of sense that such lectures should be in the language understood by the majority of the audience, which in this case was English.

If the speech was made in Munich, it would likewise be more useful if it was in German, as most of the Shias in Munich, whether they are from India, Pakistan or wherever and many of whom were born in Germany, understand German better than any other language.

The numbers who believe that it is haram is,at best, very small.

and this is publically encouraged,

Not at all

Most Syeds might prefer to marry Syeds.

But there is absolutely no public encouragement for this preference.

You missed the point man.  This topic should be geared towards those aunts, uncles, parents, etc from "back home", who probably are more comfortable in the Urdu language.  I'm just assuming that people who speak English will be more educated and probably not believe this syed/non-syed stuff.  Urdu is probably more comfortable for them.

Disclaimer:  I'm just generalizing.  There are a millions exceptions I'm sure.
